I sometimes catch myself pulling my eyelashes..I usually pull the ones who hurt a bit, and I like this feeling. I feel terrible about this bad habit, my eyelashes are long and beautiful, everybody like them, and I just pull them until I say stop, not until there is anything left. and I know that this is called trichotillomania..:( but I can't accept this
Why can’t you accept it? It is actually much more common than you might think. If you are a true sufferer of tric then advice like “just stop doing it” is really useless. You are driven by a powerful compulsion. Therapy is a good place to start. Often just talking about it can be helpful in doing it less or even quitting. There are also safe medications that can be prescribed to help you stop once it is discovered what triggers your desire to pull: stress, depression, etc. But don’t go into denial. It is a serious problem and if you don’t deal with it in what seems to be an early stage the problem just escalates. Your choices are:
1. Deal with it now and get the problem resolved with the help of a professional. OR
2. Face the prospect of going out in public with no eyelashes.
I guarantee you don’t want to deal with the latter. Get some professional help NOW! You’ll be sorry if you don’t.
Sometimes a pull my eyelashes, too. It is a little wierd. But, you should keep any habits that aren't bad for you.
