I can't stand the british any more

I have been living in Asia for a year. Before I left home I had become very disillusioned with Britons and British culture. Now on my return I feel utter contempt towards everyone I cross paths with. Their ethos, their mode of operation, inflated egos, casual sarcasm, alcoholic tendencies , obsession with celebrity , obsession with self , obsession with appearance, money and material things, lack of manners, constantly swearing and talking about others in a patronising, demeaning way, approval of violence, misogyny, lack of respect for themselves or anyone else. How did things get so bad?
I see that there are exceptions but those people are few and far between. Why are people here so misguided and selfish? I am not in the slightest bit religious, just someone who was brought up to have values and integrity.

I prefer the Brits over Americans. At least they have nice accents. The most appealing accent in America is the authentic NY,NY accent.

I'm British, and I kind of have a love-hate relationship with British culture.

Anything to do with London, I love it. London feels like a totally different country to me whenever I'm there. Totally different atmosphere.

I also love a lot of the history, especially when you go back to the ancient times and the middle ages before all the fucked up colonial shit started.

There's a lot of things I don't like about British culture though. Some of it is superficial, some more serious.

    - I hate that, as a whole country, we have no social skills with strangers in public. British people will avoid eye contact with others, half-smile awkwardly if eye contact is accidentally made, and do absolutely ANYTHING to avoid conversation unless it's absolutely necessary.
    - Let's be real, as a nation, we don't bloody know how to dress, especially in summer. We don't have any standards or class with clothing. Go to Italy, Spain or France, even the working-class people in those countries look good.
    - British seaside and holiday culture. It's so fucking cheesy and tacky, I'm actually proud to say I've never been to Blackpool or Brighton.
    - "Chav culture" in it's entirety.

I say, that doesn't sound right at all! Clearly you have been associating with a right bunch of bounders.

Never mind, I am sure you will be happy in the Far East. The world is much simpler now, good tea and cucumber sandwiches are available almost anywhere!

You sound like you have a problem with uncultured places like Britain and America. If you can, you should leave the fake obsessions and celebrity of Britain again and go back to untethered Asia where people aren't obsessed with appearance, celebrities. It is all like a spider web. Don't let it catch you.
