I can't eat for 10 days, is it normal?

I bought a container that locks for a set amount of time and threw my money and credit cards in there. I also locked my refridgerator with chain and padlock, and put the key in the container. So I literally have no way of getting any food. Am I going to die?

Rummage through the local dumpsters. You won't be disappointed.

You can always beg for money as other poor people does. That way you will learn something new.

I tried that, only I didn't lock anything. No matter what anyone says, it's better to do it the healthy way (eating fruits/veggies and working out to videos you can find on youtube/ or rent out dvds from your library).

Oh good point. Well some of them think they do, they post stories about their friends.

That's some radical diet. I suggest you call a locksmith or a guy with a chain saw

You might very well die or at the very least do your body some permanent damage. Why are you doing this?

    • To lose weight. I accidentally set it to 10 days instead of 10 hours.

Oh for goodness sake, explain clearly what you're on about. Are you going without food for 10 hours or 10 days? If you survive the ten days without food, your body will understandably react as if you're living in a famine and promptly store up everything you eat thereafter in the form of fat.

You seem to either have an eating disorder or some very weird ideas about weight loss. I hope you survive 10 days without food but it's not likely. So you'd rather be dead than fat? Assuming you are in fact fat, I"ll bet you're not

          I'm glad they explained it.
Putting a lock on food won't work. You have to change your eating habits not go on " a diet". Try a support group or read up on nutrition and exercise. Don't starve yourself.

That's the worst way to lose weight, even not eating for 10 hours is bad. There's a reason why quick fix starvation diets don't work in the long run, and most of the people that lose weight this way end up gaining it back, and then some.

You need to learn how to cut calories in a reasonable manner, and stick to small meals throughout the day. There's a lot of myths out there surrounding "starvation mode," but starving yourself is bad for a multitude of other reasons.

Youre best finding nutritionally dense foods, that will make you feel full with less calories. I'd recommend learning how to make your own soup and salad dressing (store bought soup is nasty, and contains ridiculous amounts if sodium, and store bought salad dressings usually have so many calories, you may as well eat pizza). There's lots of healthy foods that are low Calorie that will make you feel full throughout the day and prevent binge eating, which is what you'll inevitably do if you starve yourself.

You'll want to cut 500 cals a day max, and add 500 cals worth of exercise (about a 1 1/2 hour walk, if you're just starting). That will add up to about 2 lbs a week- which is the maximum amount of sustainable and healthy weight that you can lose.

In the meantime. You need to eat. Going ten days without food won't kill you, but it will make you sick, and you most certainly will gain back any weight that you lose.

It's called fasting and is quite common in some Eastern religions.
It is often used as a way to rid one's body of toxins, but if you live in an urban environment you can't get away from so many of the most dangerous poisons that it's probably not very healthy in the long run.
You must drink lots of water and limit your activities (do NOT drive, for instance) as you can become light headed or even pass out from a lack of blood sugar.

Fasting is really healing to the body, if done in a reasonable and safe way. Apparently there are groups of people who claim to have fasted for years straight. I know it sounds crazy but people claim to be able to survive on meditation, water, and sunlight alone.
