I can remember pi (π) to about 40 decimal places - iin?

The number π is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.142

For some reason I can remember it to about 40 decimal places.

Is it normal? Or am I weird?

I know my debit card info by heart, I think that's more useful than pi.

To me, it's a mysterious and therefore beautiful number. Mathematicians can appreciate it much more than me though I'm sure.

Easy. It's like remembering 5 phone numbers separately.

Nope. If you try to remember it as one number it is hard to do. Break it up into 7 digit segments. Learn one segment each day, and it is much easier.

        • When I remember this long series of numbers i usually just see them clear like a tv screen in my head.

Also some of the numbers have 'personalities' which makes it easier to remember them and sometimes they are paired up like real people.

For example there's George and Mildred - he's 89 and she's 79. Mandy (a hot blonde) and Steve (32 / 38). There's horny old John who is 46 and scored himself a hot 26 year old. So that takes care of the number sequence: 8979 3238 4626

That goes some way to illustrate how my mind remembers long number sequences.

I accidently memorized the prologue to Canterbury Tales in Middle English. Sometimes we get things stuck in our head.

That's nothing of extraordinary. If you took 30 seconds to memorize it then you'd probably have an eidetic memory.
