i get good grades in ALL my classes EXCEPT geometry because I JUST CANT REMEMBER OR BRING MYSELF to do the homework. ITS SOO HARD. ive been the slowest in all my math classes since 1st grade. tutoring does not help. Im slowly giving up but im trying by the skin of my teeth not to. I geT low C's and D's. HELP!
I managed to flake my way through the first year of my A levels without doing a single piece of homework, in my opinion it doesn't count towards the grade you get at all it's just extra work... I came out with two A's and a B for the first year too (eat that teachers who wanted to ruin my life doing shite work at home)
OP: I had the same problem for years, until a friend who knew me well was able to take a different approach - and then it began to make sense. I suggest seeking out people or places that use non-traditional teaching methods in the area of maths and see if they can help you.
The thing that frustrated me the most was that I got A+ in science classes, and the teachers would say things like, "You can do science, so you can do maths. You're just not trying hard enough!" That used to absolutely crush me, because I tried tutors and everything to understand and it just didn't help. It used to reduce me to tears. Looking back, I can see what was wrong, and how my friend was able to help me: I think in pictures. You say it - I see it. So of course science made sense - I had mental pictures of what I was learning. It meant that I constructed models in my head in moments and so on. But numbers? Numbers were just lines on paper and meant nothing to me. They had no context or meaning. My friend used something so ridiculously simple, it was almost maddening: he drew dots and other such shapes on paper to give me something semi-tangible! Those images became "things" and I can work with "things"!
So think about how you think and what your style of learning is, and try to work accordingly, or find a tutor who can work that way with you. Good luck! :)
i feel the exact same way, math is always the 1 class i have to really force myself to do. just push through it and maybe get together to study with your friends (:
Doing homework is sooo anoying...at least try studyind by reading books, I's much easier than writing and even though you don't remember much, you will improve your grades by 1 or 2 degrees
I'm the same way but think about when your done with it and It'll encourage you to do it , and just focus , just keep repeating that hopefully it works :)
