Firstly, well done for identifying in the first place that you have an issue. Not everyone who has gender dysphoria actually realises it's a mental illness.

Now the bad news. As much as you want to have the body of a woman, you will never truly be one. No-one else will pretend that you are a woman even if you want to. I genuinely feel sorry for you and I can't imagine the emotions which run through your head on a daily basis... it must be hell.

If we think about gender dysphoria as a mental illness, which is what it is, we can treat it the same as we treat schizophrenia or kleptomania, i.e. with cognitive behavioural therapy.

I advise you to take this path in order to deal with your issues, so that you avoid doing something tragic and unnecessarily hurting the people closest to you who love you and care.

This comment is a hell of a lot more compassionate then what I would have come up with. Kudos to you Englishlad. I couldn't articulate something with half the empathy.

Get help. Don't feed the delusion. Same thing any sensible person would say.

Transitioning can be a way of getting help depending on the person.

False. Suicide rate does not improve with transition.

Yes it does, evidently when trans people transition and feel better. What statistics are these, and how do you know that those trans people aren;t still being mistreated or aren't satisfied with the results?

I think with results, we see these perfect looking TG in the media or web and then compare our own situation (reality) with that. Of course the media has a way of making all humans feel inadequate.

40% of transgenders commit suicide. Someone did some study and came up with that number. Google it there's a lot of decent sources that go into the study.

Therapy might help, if you have money... otherwise a support group.

You should really be sure you are ready for the commitment of transitioning, because you have to be ready for the fact that your results very well may not be what you had in mind. Perhaps when you have been on hormones for a while you may still feel the same way when you look in the mirror, and you may still feel not as manly/feminine enough as you hoped.

Then if you decide it's not what you wanted there's the added embarrassment of DE-transitioning. Then you may want to detransition but you dont want to admit that the people that told you not to do it were right. Then you could wind up stuck in this gender that you dont want. Because you want to avoid the humiliation of De-transitioning.

I think some people, especially other trans people, are abit too quick to tell people to transition. I think you should think about all the possible outcomes before embarking on this major life decision.

This is a very serious situation, and you should seek a therapist that can help you. I am no expert but i know this can be hard for people not being able to live how they want, or are.

I wouldn't go the route of feeding the delusion. At the end of the day, it's your choice, and you can identify as an otherkin or a woman or trans disabled, but you'll never truly be what you identify as.

We wouldn't tell a schizophenics the demons are real, and I won't tell you that the trillions of cells in your body have got it wrong and that you're actually a woman.

You're in a really shit situation tbh; aside from having this serious problem society's way of "fixing" it is to tell you that yes, the sky is green. Don't get a dick lobotomy, dude, don't believe your delusions, stay strong; I'm sorry you're going through this at this time in the world. Frankly, unless you want to affirm your delusions then I wouldn't go and talk to anyone like a counsellor; just like if you were to ask a North Korean what they think of their glorious leader, there's only one answer they can safely give...

Comparing transitioning to telling schizophrenics that demons are real is really dumb.

A very poignant and evidential point. Is it also stinky?

I asked a North Korean what life is like there. He said, "I can't complain". haha...

Now with the joke out of the way...

There are plenty of conditions that are based on delusions.

Well like they tell men that the reason for their erectile dysfunction is because of broken down blood vessels. Of course it has nothing to do with their wife being some old fat ugly hag. Bring in a 21 year old cheerleader and see if his E.D. persists.

Or this whole autism or ADD bullshit. They tell kids they have that when they get bored and restless in school. It has nothing to do with subjecting a child to an environment that resembles the corporate world.

Or depression. They tell people they have that and then get them hooked on anti depressants. Can't we just tell the "depressed" that if they don't like their lives, work to change it.

But no, in all three cases they pump them full of meds.
So why shouldn't transgenders get the same treatment, for good or bad? In most cases, the TG person has to pay for their own treatments so why does anyone else give a damn?

I know lots of kids are misdiagnosed with ADHD/ADD, but at least for me, it has nothing to do with not being bored. I love to learn, but most of the time I am not capable of completing tasks ( finishing laundry loads, washing EVERY dish, putting away groceries, taking off my shoes, brushing my teeth twice a day, finishing fun and creative work assignments, getting myself to eat 3 meals a day)

I would disagree with labelling of any of those conditions that you previously outlined as fundamentally delusional though. There are often physical problems relating to ED, some people with autism are quite genuinely and obviously suffering from a mental illness, people with depression often have crtical levels of seratonin, etc, etc

I would say that absolutely a transgender person should be able to do what they want. If they want to slice off their testicles if they feel like a woman, or stick their hands in dry ice until they fall off if they believe they're disabled then they should have the right to do so, even otherkin should be able to get surgery to make them look like a wolf or whatever if they want to, that's freedom.

I just don't think the way to "help" with what they're going through, by and large, is for society to reaffirm their identity, and if someone asks me for my opinion on what do in one of those situations then I would advise, as I did, not to head down the path of non-reality.

I am TG myself and have known other ones, reassuring them that they are "really men" doesn't help.

They do have to go through therapy and live at least one year full time before getting surgeries. There is a complicated process.

It is not a simple matter of going to the doc one day and saying "Chop off my chin slappers and one-eye'd liar!" and it is done, unlike getting a tooth extracted.

So basically, the loony toons who are not really TG cannot easily get such a drastic surgery.

I am Male myself and the research I've seen disagrees with you.

Particularly in that a majority of those who experience gender dysphoria grow out of it.

That's not actually true, and it's obvious that you're biased against trans people just by looking at your comments. Having said that, it wouldn't matter either way. For the people who continue to have gender dysphoria, transitioning may be the right choice for those ones.

Fair enough; I'm sure it works for some people; I still think by and large it's not the healthy option, but I respect you point and "Chop off my chin slappers and one-eye'd liar!" had me creasing, dude
