I am engaged at 18?

Everyone tells me that its really weird that im engaged at 18. My fiancé is also 18 and we got engaged a year ago. I swear all i hear is "did your parents arrange it?" Or "is he really rich or something?"
Some people have even gone as far as saying that our engagement doesn't have as much value as someone in their mid twenties and that it doesnt mean anything.

Why can't people just accept that we have been together for 4 years now and we know what we want? Is it really not normal to be engaged at my age?

  • Met my wife when she was 17, we were like you engaged at 18 and she was 19 when we married. 30 years later we are still happily married so yes ifor us it was good. If you are happy together ignore all the doubters and go for it

It's not normal in the sense that it's quite uncommon nowadays, but as jmr2910's comment illustrates that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad idea.

It's normal and it's the kind of thing that makes me happy. Everyone would be more happy if they got married younger, to the right person.

Some people would, some people wouldn't. Everyone is different, and everyone chooses the path that they think is right at the moment. You do you.
