People who don't have enough money cover the necessities of life are usually pretty miserable - until they starve or freeze to death.

I can't be bothered to do the Google searching necessary, but I'm sure I read research recently that found that, in the USA, an annual income of something like $75,000 was "peak happiness". Those with that income had enough for the the things that make life pleasant. Above that point, making the money, sustaining a certain lifestyle, worries about those who want to relieve you of your assets, and other concerns actually reduced happiness.

Many people who are very wealthy have acquired that wealth because they are driven and obsessive about making money.

Once the basic necessities for survival are dealt with, then happiness is a state of mind. You can't buy a completely different way of perceiving the world and your life.

Of course money can buy happiness, haven’t you guys spent on something that has made you happy? Even if it’s something reasonably priced, a movie? A alcoholic beverage? A night out to dinner? The saying should be money can’t buy love, that makes sense and is actually true!!! of course being financially stable would make you happy.

People who say money can't buy happiness just don't know where to shop.

Money is power. With money you can have all what you want. When I say everything, it is everything. Believe me, your main goal should be getting rich before anything else.

If it's only power and things you want then I feel very sorry for you.

I've worked for very wealthy people and believe me, they weren't very happy people because they spent so much time worrying about how to hold on to their wealth and what to spend it on.

Because they don't care about happiness all they want is money and more money. But what i'm saying is its right to say that money can make you happy! Everyone has some desires and money is very important to fulfil them

People always say money can't buy happiness, but I'd be pretty happy if I won the lottery or something and didn't have to worry about financial needs.

Yup I totally agree. Owning a private jet, a nice mansion with acres of land, a private helicopter, fancy cars, a yacht where the helicopter can land etc would make me super happy. I didn't even mention how easily rich men get pussy.

If you use it to show off and be greedy you might not be really happy.

The fact is that money can indeed bring happiness. Obviously, having money rained down on you when you're depressed won't make you NOT depressed, but that money can be used for things you enjoy. Everyone needs money to live. You need to live to be happy. And spending money on things you like and on things that entertain you can make you happy. It's stupid to be in denial on that.

Plenty of miserable people have lots of money. It's what you do with the money that matters. If you're depressed and miserable buying a ferrari won't make you happy.
