How would you react if you had a long-lost sibling and you two meet?

Let's say that you have a long lost maternal half-sibling (Gender's up to you) that's 10-13 years younger/older than you (your choice) and the two of you meet up one day. How would you feel and react?

I'd be happy 5
I'd be sad 0
I'd be shocked 8
I'd want to get to know him/her alot more 14
We'd celebrate and have a party 2
I'd be mad that no one told me about him/her 6
Oddly enough, I already have a sibling like this 6
More than 1 of these 14
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I would say: Ah! Another sibling! Finally, someone who's NOT a twin!
Sibling: Cool! I get 2 sisters now!
    Me: Yah! Let's all hug!
Twin: No! I hate hugs! Argh!
    Me: Do YOU like hugs?
Sibling: Sure, I guess... (I gots me some weird sisters...)
    Me: Hug!
Sibling: ... ... ... (Man, how were these two raised?! I had a perfectly normal life! What?!)

    Hugs anyone?

I haven't a clue. The thought never occurred to me. Anyway, it's kinda too late now.

To be honest, I don't know. I already have a half sister in Japan who is about 7 to 9 years older than me in. We have the same mother, but my mother doesn't know that I know about her. Her fathers family took her from my mom when she was a baby. I hear she looks just like my mother. It would definitely be awkward meeting her, I don't really speak Japanese, so there would be a language barrier. Although, I probably could understand what she was staying.

I think it would pretty awesome. It is possible too, but not likely. I used to wish I had a sister then I came to my senses and I'm quite happy with my brothers, but if I found out i had a sister now, I would be stoked.

  • I have a sister (half sister) that I only held when she was a baby, and I am going to be moving to where her and her mother stays quite soon, so I think I'll end up running in to her, which is going to be awkward.

Very surprised indeed. I'd want to know, from them and/or my parents, why I'd never met them before. I'm sure I'd enjoy getting to know this person, though.

I would be shocked at first. Then I would want to get to know him/her.

If I found out I had a 9 or 10 year old half sibling, I would be stunned beyond belief. I would be extremely angry that I was never told, but I would also be happy to try and get to know him or her.
