How would you react if someone said this about your bag?

If a random person like a cashier girl or hairdresser says about your (bought) interesting hippyish looking bag/purse/jewellery: "That's really nice! Did you make that?"

I would say thanks then tell them where I got it.

I'd put my fist as hard as I can through their teeth, then look at my knuckles, "that's some nice dental work, where do you go?"

I would stand there in shock, wondering whose bag I accidentally stole

Saying thanks will always be the first move that I'll response. I love nice strangers like that.

Are you really so vain about your fucking possessions that this would bother you?

        • Actually I get embarrassed for the person asking. And they laugh nervously as though they think they insulted me. Its an awkward situation. If I was vain I'd buy $300 channel bags.

I would tell them no I didn't make it. Probably underpaid waif children in Pakistan made it ..

    • So the cashier spots your funky, raggedy bag and smiles and says "that's really nice, did you make that?" Btw there are people behind you in the queue who can hear. And you reply, with no awkwardness or embarrassment for the cashier or for yourself "No, I didn't make it I bought it from hipsters united." Something like that?

Well no, I would answer more simply "no". I guess everything else you said about people in line matters if you're the type of person who cares what people standing in a line think. Pedhaps you are, and thats fine, but I am not.
