How to not get upset when getting a down vote

Not just on this website. Every websites that have up vote and down vote feature. Everytime I get a down vote in my comment, I get upset and feel humiliated. Can you people help me how to toughen myself up? For those who are going to say that I take thing too seriously, you're correct. That's why I need some advices. I've been on this website for so long already but I still can't get over it. Another question, is it normal to feel embarrassed when getting a down vote? I know that some users like VinnyB and Kingofcarrotflowers really talented at giving people advices. I am sure all of you're like that too. Thank you and good day/night.

I don't even know how some of my comments manage to get upvoted so when I get downvoted I'm like huh... dokay.

  • sometimes i look at down votes for good /witty/friendly advice and it's obvious that the down voter is immature/jealous/crazy

Don't look at your old comments. Problem solved.

  • Its nothing reasonable to get upset over.
Sometimes I have down voted comments for absolutly no reason, other than I think the person will give a funny responce. I often have done this with even insightful and helpful comments because i like to make people feel confused. It amuses me when people get upset over something so ridiculous.

    Imagine the downvoters as gremlins.

Now you can't even get mad at them because they're gremlins - they're life must suck. Can't blame them for doing what they do.

I often make unpopular comments which I fully expect will receive some down votes. At other times, I might state the obvious in perhaps a humorous way, and am surprised at how little humor many on here have.
But when I offer real, heartfelt advice for someone who is hurting and get down voted, I am shocked. For once I'm not being the class clown, nor am I being mean or pushing tough love, but sincerely trying to be sweet and helpful. And I see it all the time to many of the regulars' posts. What kind of cretin does it take to down vote a response like that?

  • Personally, I done away with the voting system. People rely on it too much to say they disagree but never put "why" in a response, hence why I think it's just a cowardly way to present your disaproval. So when it happens to you, without a response, just consider it an act of cowardice.

I like to call those people thumbasses. ^_^

I think you should comment anonymously on this thread and then all of us should vote it down. You should give us a target..like -8. And if we don't reach it, you win..but lose at the same time

    • Hmm, Ok. Anyway, thank you people for being so nice giving advices to me. I feel so much better knowing that some users here are supportive to each other even to an anonymous who is shy to reveal his/her user name.
