If you are having sex with someone who is unconscious, you can't protect yourself if they say rape.

Keep this as a fantasy. It doesn't matter what protections you put in place beforehand, you would ultimately be putting your life in the other persons hands.

It's convoluted and a distraction, not what you should be thinking about when it comes to joining physically with someone you love. Clean up your head, man. Yes it's great to wake up mid-fuck. Have an unambiguous conversation about this while wide awake, hash out an agreement where you are both free to have your way with the other while they sleep so long as they seem to be enjoying it - then most importantly have her do it to you first, so there's no question as to what she views as consent and what she's comfortable with.

Then put it out of your damn mind until it happens naturally over the course of things. Life's too short to muddy up the sex with a bunch of goofy novelty.

Idk, I actually have fantasized about sleepy sex as a woman & have done it with my fiance. You would have to make sure that she is into it, on multiple occassions & get explicit consent- like, more than once & i'd recommend a "safe word."

& also, don't "strap" yourselves together w/out a quick release- you could die in a fire or end up playing gerald's game.

  Yeah remember the quick release system or you could die in a fire or an earthquake or because you can't get to the bunker in the event of a tornado or an intruder could easily rape (you both) after having had a good laugh or one of you could die and the other not wake up and someone could walk in and the one who is alive could get convicted for necrophilia or not reporting a suspicious death .     Lol I don't want to get into graphic detail, but we have discussed it & initiated sex during sleep, but I trust my fiance...like super duper, super extra trusty trust to the extreme...like we have been in scary life& death situations together trust. So if i wanted sleep sex, or rapey sex, I would 158674% trust him, but that wouldn't be a go for every relationship.
