Depression is one of those things you can decide you've had enough of. Why cope when you can get better?
It take willpower and hard work, but you need not be depressed if you so choose.

Dangerous and ignorant. Depression is a mental illness, not just "feeling a bit sad".

There is no doctor or medication to CURE depression. Only the person with depression can change their situation.
If you wish to believe any differently, then you can say whatever you please, but it will only be worthless bullshit!

No, there is no "cure", only treatment. For most people, a combination of therapy and medication is best, but obviously there's no blanket treatment for everyone.

But telling someone just "feel happy" is completely detrimental. Truly depressed people can't just "snap out of it". The person has to be willing to work on it and change themselves, yes, but that does not occur in isolation. It's a chemical unbalance in the brain. "Thinking happy thoughts" isn't going to do shit. If it does, that is not actual depression.

Same as your ego not allowing you to listen to any one else, regardless of whether they actually know what they're talking about isn't going to change just by anyone talking reason and fact.

As someone who spent 18 years believing as you do about depression, because all the fucking doctors said it was so, I am probably speaking from someplace you've never been. One day I'd just had enough of the doctors, their fucking meds and the belief that I had to live the rest of my life like that.
I didn't, and I don't. It isn't easy but it IS doable. Your attitude is exactly what the doctors and pharmaceutical companies want you to believe.

No legitimate doctor aims to prescribe anti deps for life. I'm sorry you got shitty treatment, no one could deny there are bad doctors who do not treat things correctly, but that doesn't negate the work of people with far more training in thesubject than you or I.
