How to change careers at this point in life?

I'm not entirely unhappy with what I currently do, but I would like to change careers. My question is, do you think that after having invested about 20 years in the same profession it is possible to change to something else? If so, how would one go about that? I think I wouldn't know where to begin.

    I know loads of people who have. One person I know went from seamstress to English teacher to working with computers to landscape gardener. Her husband has gone from teacher to IT to baker. Both of them cultivated interests while they were at their present jobs, took courses, and finally made the leap when they were ready.

    Figure out what interests you and see what it would require to get a job in that area.
