How should i budget my stimulus check

So for me living in the States, I'm getting 600 dollars as part of a stimulus bill that was recently fully enacted into law

There are a few different things this money could help provide me

A cat, providing mental and emotional support, would cost 400 in total plus any food, litter box, toys

My car could probably get new tires and brake pads and some other stuff maybe for 600 dollars

I need furniture and other house stuff I could probably get poking through Good Will and Craigslist and local buy/sell apps with the 600 dollars

I really want a cat, but a fear is growing inside me to get new tires and stuff for my car

I think I can hold off on furniture and stuff a little longer. It's mind numbingly annoying, but I can handle it

I can probably afford the car stuff in a couple weeks, at least some of it

Or maybe I could pay all my bills and splurge on a cat and get my car stuff done

But I could get a cat now and benefit from its existence sooner

Or I could get the car stuff done first and have something less to stress

I guess I'm just conflicted between choosing what will make me happy and what I feel is safer. My car might be fine, I had to get two wheels patched and it feels a little unstable. I could be putting my desires ahead of my needs by getting a cat first. But maybe it'll probably be all okay to fix my car up in two weeks

What do y'all think? I'll have the money for everything no matter the order

Cat first 1
Bills first 17
Car first 6
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I think the car and bills are most important for now. You do not want potentially dangerous car trouble such as brakes failing or a blowout, and you definitely don't want to get behind on your bills, either.

Cats are wonderful though, and I hope you are able to afford and get one soon! But make sure your absolute necessities are taken care of first!

Sort your car out. If you are struggling financially you really need to look after your car right now.

I would put the cat idea totally out of your head for now, until you have more money. It's irresponsible to take on a pet if you can't afford unexpected vet bills.

why the cat $400 ?? unless you're counting medical expenses, in which case 400 wouldn't come close to covering any illness/injury that may come up. but if you don't mind that then just get s stray who would be dying anyway

If you hadn't voted Sleepy Joe into office you would be doing much better than you are, or will be.

Hey... He's trying to give the US people more and the rest of the world less.

        • It was a ploy to piss off Mitch McConnell and other high ranking Republicans for not backing his fraud claims

He also knew Pelosi and Shumer would jump on it and make McConnell stop the effort himself in the Senate, giving unaware people someone to blame for small checks

Don't get me wrong, McConnell has been stonewalling these checks for the election but in this particular case it's not his fault

We're probably gonna have to wait for the Senate elections to finalize before a third check, which we'll definitely get if Democrats take the Senate and control the flow of bills in the House, Senate, and White House. We may still get a third check if Republicans keep the Senate if Democrats got a stronger holding through Senate elections.

I don't know how it's looking now, but Democrats needed to take all 8 vacancies from Republicans to take the Senate a few months ago, I think there's just one seat left to decide

Yet his power to pass things is severely undercut since if he is hard on the stimulus all the dems would have to do is wait.

        • His lasting legacy is already shit except to the MAGAts

He's realized he's leaving the office soon and is only doing things to make himself feel better

Hopefully this is a good lesson about celebrities taking office

I agree with you. I wouldn't trust those socialist democrats either.

Oh my god, right? Those damn socialists who love socialism so much they almost threw the election to Trump by forcing an unpopular candidate just because they'd prefer to run a rock over even a diet socialist. The Democrats are firmly a right-wing, socialism-hating, capitalism-blowing party. Sitting slightly to the left of Republicans doesn't change the truth regarding their ultimate position, which is way out there to the right by global standards.

I'd take care of the car first. Blown out tires can leave you stranded if you dont know how to change them. Put a certain amount aside each check to go for your cat. You can usually get the cat and a bunch of stuff they need cheap on Craigslist. Then just need to pay for a vet check if you choose too.

Don't cash the check unless you want to be laughed at, $600 is a joke. I'm 90% sure it's a prank.

    • The prank was getting it to 2000

I *knew* Trump was gonna wait for the eleventh hour to sign it, it's just to be a nuisance to Mitch McConnell and the other high ranking Republicans for not backing his fraud claims

He knew Pelosi and Shumer would eat that up and add fuel to the fire

Maybe to you it's an inconsequential resource, it would be nice if they lowered the cut off to like 45k per year and made it a 2000 stimulus

It just blows my mind how countries much more poor than the US and hit less hard than the US had no issue already giving out much more and yet here in the US where we have a $999,999,999,999,999,999 military budget we're like, "How will we ever financially recover from such generosity? Best we can do is 5 bucks."

Buy a rifle with them. Try to get one without registering. Registering defeats the purpose of having the gun. If they want to take the gun and you registered it you can not really deny you have it.

Funny, but yeah no they definitely are. Bill Clinton banned them and Bush unbanned them. Biden is looking to ban them again he's already said.
