How quietly do you talk?

I have a very quiet voice to the point were it becomes a disability. I talk at loudly as I can and it's still hard for some of my teachers to hear me. I get so angry and I just feel like people don't even try to listen and I hate them.

I'm often told I don't speak loudly enough. I think I'm normal to loud, depending on the situation. If I feel I'm too loud, I feel self conscious.

I'm kind of like that. I've always had a rather passive voice. If I speak normally, people often don't hear me. If I speak up to where they CAN hear me, people think I'm yelling at them. It's a lose lose situation! Lol

I feel it's kind of situational for me. I'm soft-normal on the phone/mic, normal in person, and loud normal in public

I'm usually loud unless I'm tired. When I'm tired, my voice is difficult to hear. Otherwise, I regularly get shit for my near yelling tone of voice.

I'm a loud-talker once you get me going. Though I still get drowned out by my other family members.

I'm often asked to speak up; mostly from parents and/or teachers...authority figures.

I'd like to think I talk normally, but sometimes people take my demeanor as being quiet as a mouse. Whatevs.

In public I'm library like. I'm also polite and rather proper from what I've been told. At home I'm normal/loud and I curse a lot. Although, most of the time I don't talk at all. I don't like talking very much. I have a hard time pretending I'm interested in what people have to say. I'm too interested in stuff nobody gives a shit about.

Teachers were always telling me i need to "speak up" as well. i think as a kid i had selective mutism and i wonder if it affected my voice, because now when i "speak up" it actually hurts my throat, makes my eyes water, voice cracks, etc. when speaking "normal volume" it feels like i'm yelling. i think it's strengthening though

I don't talk very loudly but apparently my voice carries because of its lowish register

Actually higher pitched voices project better. You just have a good speaking voice. Enjoy it!

Oh not through distance but we have an open plan house and between me my brother and his girlfriend my voice is the lowest and is the loudest upstairs, I think it's the vibrations travelling through the furniture

  • People complain I can talk loud but I dont notice it. Apparently my voice gradually gets louder as it gets later at night. I also talk loud on the phone, but its because I tend to talk louder if I am having trouble hearing the other person.

I don't hate talking on the phone. People can always turn the volume up on my voice, so I don't mind. I don't like it when people use a crappy cellphone and they keep cutting out though. I hear really well, because I live in a town with lots of loud and exhausting people. I hate having the quietest voice

I wish I could be loud. It would save me so much effort. You have no idea.

  • I alter my voice volume and pitch depending on the situation. If I'm in a situation where someone has the ability to do something that will negatively effect me I tend to speak somewhat quiet and become soft spoken, intentionally.

I can talk at a loud normal if I have to repeat myself enough. I shouldn't have to. There is a point where I will just stop trying to say anything just out of pure frustration. I don't intentionally speak the way I do, it just happens, I don't know the cause.

You are that electric ocean person, right?
I have a soft voice too.. but it's just because I am a calm person and I don't like to speak a lot.
    But your feelings are normal.
I also end up getting annoyed, agitated and mad when I have to repeat myself a lot.
And it's not even because people like us speak quietly on purpose because when I speak it sounds like I am talking clearly and loud enough in my ears/head. I sound loud enough to myself when I listen to myself whilst talking.

Tis I! I just don't think my vocal chords themselves don't allow me to talk at a loud volume. I sometimes get mad at one of my teachers because he's hard of hearing. I also am loud to myself too. Some people in quire don't like me very much because I don't sing loudly enough.

Yesterday I became angry because I had to repeat my order to this one idiot 3+ times and he still got it wrong. HE made ME repeat myself, and HE still had the audacity to get it wrong! I wanted a small and he gave me a large I wanted a mocha and he gave me caramel. I hate McDonald's! I always knew they got stoned in the bathrooms.

I feel like it's a low grade disability.

Speak from the pits of your belly. You can be louder, you are probably just shy and lack the confidence. Unless you have something wrong with your vocal chords. Which is possible, but not likely. I have known lots of people who speak softly but can still manage to yell when necessary.

Me, I have a normal voice. Clear and consistent. And when i get excited I can get loud. Sometimes I am loud.

No. Even in a good situation I speak quietly. I only start to "yell" if I get angry at someone. I could yell like a normal person but it hurts so much, and it would wear me out.

One of the things about singing or playing a wind instrument is that you pull your breath from the bottom of your lungs, not the top. This will naturally give you more power in your speaking, and possibly more confidence.

But don't get angry when people ask you to repeat themselves. I have horrible hearing and find it very frustrating when people mumble at me then get annoyed that I don't understand and ask them to repeat themselves. I nod and smile way more than I would prefer. People like us have to work together and be patient and make accommodations to help with communication.
