How often is to often to ask a friend to hang out?

I have recently become friends with someone and so far have only hung out once. I really love hanging out with her and would want to hang out frequently but I don't want to come across as desperate or needy. Its been a month since I saw her so I feel about a month is appropriate amount of time...
Personally I'd love to catch up like every 2 weeks and I'm looking for establishing a new best friend since I have lost my other one. I know it sounds lame but I just miss having a bestie despite my age (20) .
What's an acceptable amount of time to wait?

Its ok to ask often just don't be pushy about it 14

    Its normal to ask to hangout but pushy if they say they are busy and you keep asking.
    I have friends who want to do something almost daily and then get mad when I tell them Im busy. To me that is ridiculous and I dont want to see someone everyday either, but its always nice to get a call offering to hang out. Its only an issue if I say not today and they get pushy or mad.

      Oh wow I don't have anyone in my life that wants to hang out daily. Dam there's a certain few that i would love to be like that but it never happens.
      Thanks for your advice- I certainly won't be pushy about it- I'll just politely ask. Theres nothing more annoying than someone you're not too fond of hassling you on a daily basis to hang out.
