How often do you feel that life is meaningless?

I have had this problem for a while now and just wanted to see what everyone else feels.

It comes every now and again but then I think of how miraculous it is that I'm even here to begin with.

  • I prefer that life is meaningless. Would you really be happy if we were designed for a certain purpose? Once we achieve our purpose what would be next? We'd have nothing because we would of done what we were supposed to do.

Having purpose is not synonymous with fate or godly predetermination. The only purpose to life is the purpose we bestow upon it. My purpose is to understand myself and my flaws by better understanding humanity and its flaws; I then wish to convey my understanding to those that are willing to listen. Humans can discover so much about themselves by analyzing the decisions of others. My life is full of meaning and would have it no other way.

I don't think I could ever fully accomplish this purpose so it will keep me driven until the end. On the off chance that I do accomplish it, humanity has so much it needs to improve I doubt it will be difficult to find an equally beneficial and rewarding purpose.

Why should life have any meaning? Who ever told you that life has to have meaning?
We are here by chance and IMO our only responsibility in life is to get and share as much pleasure and happiness out of what little time we are allotted, as we can.

  • Not everything has to have a meaning. The meaning of life is to create your own meaning.

No...cus it seemed like you meant that in general...you have to put "(i think) "The meaning of life is to create your own meaning" or (for me) ... " so that the reader known it only implies to you.

          • Nobody has a predetermined meaning. They make their own, just like I said. Everyone creates their own personalized meaning. Nobody else can do that for you

Well, life doesn't really have a "meaning". We are only here to survive and make a living. If you try to comprehend the meaninglessness of life, it will only make it feel more meaningless. Best to not focus on it and just get on with what you have to do.

"Life" doesn't care about anybody. Since it is designed to expand exponentially, it creates competition among organisms, hence natural selection. Since it mutates, it eventually diversifies to fills all voids.

“Most people think life sucks, and then you die. Not me. I beg to differ. I think life sucks, then you get cancer, then your dog dies, your wife leaves you, the cancer goes into remission, you get a new dog, you get remarried, you owe ten million dollars in medical bills but you work hard for thirty-five years and you pay it back and then...one day...you have a massive stroke, your whole right side is paralyzed, you have to limp along the streets and speak out of the left side of your mouth and drool but you go into rehabilitation and regain the power to walk and the power to talk and then...one day...you step off a curb at Sixty-seventh Street, and BANG you get hit by a city bus and then you die...Maybe.” - Denis Leary

Life is a test of some sort. We just keep putting one foot in front of the other and "Think positive". Think well and see how you can have more control, not always complete control, but much more control. THINK WELL ! Don't hate. It's hard not to fall into the hate and frustration mode, especially with family.
