How much do you value your voice?

Здравствуйте, it’s KholatKhult, here to bore you.

In some cultures speech is expected to stay modest and limited, while in others, colorful and exaggerated vocalization is praised. I love reading flowery language in literature.

I think of how Shakespeare plays take a dozen minutes for someone to explain something that could easily be said bluntly. Or how the “rednecks” in American movies have crazy idioms and colorful story telling.

Personally, when it came to speaking, I was taught that less was more. Do not speak unless spoken to. Only use your voice to ask or answer a question. Which is ironic because I run my mouth a lot on here.

So I’m curious, how important is your voice worth to you? Do you consider having a wide vocabulary important in your life? Does speech censorship bother you more than others? Is your local dialect and vocabulary (accent/slang) important to you?

When I read this, I initially thought it was about liking how your voice sounds...

Anyway, my dad is ex-military and an ex-navy captain, so I was raised to speak only when I have something worthwhile to say... Sort of a talk is cheap thing... I also served in the army for about a year.
In a way I kinda agree with my dad that lots of talk is pointless, but in a way I don't...

Funny thing is I had to become a lot more chatty, if I were to become a car salesman. Cause to sell a car, you gotta go on and on, you literally have to sweet talk your customers into buying your crappy cars. And it was women that made me more outgoing. Throughout the years, girlfriends I've had made me more open and a lot more communicative. My current girlfriend being the biggest help probably.

But back to my first thought... In Bulgarian, I'm ok with how I sound. In German? Nobody sounds good speaking German, unless they are barking orders at a crew on a submarine that is...

And English... oh man, I can pull off sick American accents. It just sounds nice. American English is quick and sounds cool. Tailored perfectly for deeper voices.

As for Russian, perfect language for cursing XD

Seriously, this is a conversation I heard from 2 Russian dudes in front of me at the supermarket:
1: Шо эта за хуйня нахуй блять?
2: Зтo пиздец блять... (pointing to packet of gummy bears)
    1: Суууука бляд.

I laughed for 5 minutes straight XD

I love having a voice, I used to make my living off of it.

Idk but accents are kind of interesting. You can tell where someone is from in America sometimes by their accent.

Before I leave, I must say I have not read your post in its entirety - sue me!! - but my voice is how I make my living, so for me it's extremely important.

And I don't really know what my accent sounds like.

Your accent probably sounds like everyone elses where you're from

I have trouble in speaking. I know how to write, but im bad at communicating.

I was almost my full live alone for now and I hardly know what to say and how i should say it. I can not express and talk very quietly, i am very misunderstable and i can not even fix this.

For me it is important to at least understand each other, especially like now, since english is not my first language. But I also like literature and language itself.
I used to read a lot of books in my bed.
It is very important to keep educate people the right way to not vanish the language.

My therapist was very surprised when i had to write him some sort of story, because i told it completly like a different person he thought, because i was talking completly different and the writing was considered like a really well written one in a clear language..

I get a lot of shit for the way I talk, perhaps even more so in the past than now. I have a tendency to be a bit verbose or using big words, and it isn't appreciated in some circles. I've gotten into fistfights over it as a child and teen. I've been accused of being arrogant, but it is honestly just how I talk and I can't really change it without using much effort, and in all honesty, I'm not going to bend over backward to change my diction to be suitable for people I don't care about. If you think it's pretentious, then it sounds like a personal problem. I've been told that I talk like I'm "writing an essay." Right now I am 18 and I work at a factory. In some ways it is easier because people are less liable to try and physically fight you over it than kids are, but it still appears that people find how I talk strange there. Their vocabularies typically consist of the same few basic words, relaxed sense of grammar, etc. Nothing wrong with that if it gets their point across. But I do get people my age and older people alike repeating what I say because they find the word choice odd. Sometimes I think they get the impression I am trying to be overly polite either out of coldness or being scared.

It depends, most the time I'm quite and only speak when spoken to kind of thing. But if I'm with someone I like I tend to run my mouth for no real reason

It's a pretty loaded question my dude. In terms of censorship and like free speech and all that, I think free speech is a valuable right that people should have. So as a right, I'd say its extremely important.

However the reason I said "I'll explain" is because that's not very important to me personally. I don't exercise my free speech. I don't produce any content, I don't publicly debate people, and honestly my life wouldn't really be impaired if we didn't have free speech here, I just don't really use it lol. That probably made no sense.
