I don't know. My parents bought the home I'm living in the 90's and back then prices where better than they are now.

Holy crap! You guys are rich! Dad designed our house and we built it. Also, I live in Montana. So, our house only cost 180,000.

I'd like to see a side-by-side poll that shows the voters income as well, that would be really intriguing, to see the percentage of people's incomes that they spend on their homes.

Our family income is about 110,000.

    • It's all relative and area dependent.

In Montana or Iowa or Ohio, you can get a very nice house for $180,000. In New York city that can barely buy a crappy studio apartment.

My mother's place in NYC is worth $3-$4 million, and it's ok but not opulent.

  • Don't understand this one.

If I answer honestly am I showing off or being truthful? Does that make people feel bad or informed? Or should I be like Dappled and give a non-answer?

    I am torn.

I live in a listed building so it's potentially priceless. I don't own it, though, and probably never will.

    • What do you mean by listed? Here in the US, listed means for sale so you confuzzled me there.

Ahh, I'm sorry. Here, it means a few centuries old and worth protecting. Not that it actually is. It's just massively overcrowded here and we want to rip down the older stuff to build homes for new people.
