How many ways do you know to square something?

Referring to building, how many ways do you know how to check for "squareness"?

(square: the corners being 90 degree angles)

  • Math was never my strong suit.

I think I still have chalk in my hair from all the times my geometry teacher threw dry erasers for snoozing in class.

    • You don't need math to square something up.

Is there a reason why you would NOT use math? It's not like it's hard to calculate anyway.

        • Because you could simply use an 'L' square, for one.

Why do you bother asking people this if you seem to want only one kind of an answer? You could have just asked this from yourself.

    1. walk arround the building

    2. Look at a f***ing map.

    3. waist time doing math

    4. Waist time doing all of the above

    5. Who the fuck cares?

I can think of three. One is the Pythagorean Theorem, of course, one is measuring both diagonals, and one is just measuring it (using a custom tool like an L-square). And there's another that I'm almost thinking of...let me get back to you on that. :P

Does calling for help count as a way?

It seems I've forgotten pretty much all I've learned from math.

Mm... To be completely honest, I think I only know how to corner.

I probably know.. but it's been so long I can't just dig it out of my brain. :( Math was one of my best subject too.

    • There's no math involved.

In that case can't you just use an L square or triangle square?

        • That's one way, yes.

    -- 3-4-5
    -- sqrt(x^2+y^2)
-- one diagonal = other diagonal.
