    The lost coast is one of my favourite parts of the world. I find it staggeringly beautiful.

    Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard;
    Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

      I laughed pretty hard.
      I've been on the East for a few years and my NY, NJ and DC friends are the softEST;
      My Norcal friends; hardly hard.. But much harder. Much. The biggest difference between the two are work, desired career paths and education.

      It's usually tv and entertainment that causes stereotyped views, if you have not lived on both coasts yourself.

          I YouTubed it.

          .... Ha. I get it, he displayed the infamous bay bridge.
          It would be true, if SF was the sum of Norcal. Drive 30min to an hour north and you're in REAL "norcal" culture.
          Sf is a world of it's own.

          Interesting. I thought the warm cloudy weather and fresh Pacific air made everyone want to drink coffee and write computer code.

    California! Norcal, born and raised.

    Now having lived on the East coast for a few years, I cannot wait to go home/back. The west really was the best.

  • THIS BETCH!!! born and raised in socal going to school in nor cal. People tell me I could never live in NY (the only other place I'd be willing to live in, in the states) they say I'm a true Cali girl

      Same.. My norcal friends and family said I'd hate the east coast, but love the city life...

      .. I hate the east coast and hate the city life.

      West, always. Especially if you're a true Californian.

    As of now i live in Cali, unfortunately. But i'll be gone soon hopefully and leave this dyke infested town. Lez Angeles is a feminist hellhole and me staying here has been the main factor that generated my deep hatred for liberals.

    I was born there (Northern California), so that makes me one of the 5 native Californians, but I got out about half a century ago. From everything I've read the place has gone to hell in a handbag, so I doubt I'll ever return.

      Norcal!? What part?

      Everyone here on the East Coast assume California = everything is like the OC/Hollywood nonsense. I have to explain Norcal is an entirely different world. The rural farmland areas etc.

      I am not native, I moved here from NC about three years ago. Basically, raging liberals, taxes on fucking everything and a state full of educated people, many of whom have little actual appreciation for knowledge. That sounded pretentious of me but most non-natives I speak to seem to feel the same way about many lifers here...

    I live down here in Socal! I could give a shit on other peoples opinions on California but really if you had a bad experience here then you were at all the wrong places at all the wrong times, or you just attracted all the asses of the land haha. I've been to the east coast, even Chicago, and it wasn't my cup of tea. As for the earthquakes, yeah it's not like you non-Californians think, stop over exaggerating everything you know nothing about. I went to fort Collins, Colorado not too long ago and felt so out of place where there was soo much green land and I rarely saw "graffiti" or street art, made me so happy to return home.

        Oh I don't live in LA, I actually live in a pretty cool little suburban town. It's just that no ones ever heard of it, so it's just easier to say I live 30min away from LA.

    California is for the rich and those who are not will not get a warm welcome. I recommend living anywhere else on the planet. Only having to deal with earthquakes probably isn't worth being treated like trash everyday. You'll live a happier life somewhere else even if you die in a tornado accident.
