How many genders are there?

Guys and Dolls. Dames and Fellas. Ladies and Gentlemen. Pimps and Hoes. Gangstas and Bitches. Dudes and Chicks.

And then a tiny minority of people who are born with rare conditions. But I don't think that requires an extra label, it's a just an anomaly and they will live as one of the two genders.

Ugh. There are two genders. If you wanna dress or act in a way that's nonconforming, go ahead. No need to invent a new "gender" in order to do so. You do you.

Are you asking how many genders there are or how many sexes?

As far as biological sex, there are normally two. Male and female. A very few are intersexed though.

The whole "gender" thing though, man or woman or whatever - THAT part is an act. If not, then how come kids have to learn to act like a man or act like a woman.

Or here is a good one - if a male is not "acting" like a man, he gets to hear "You are not a real man because..."
Of course females also hear about how they are not acting like a "real" woman...

Pop quiz - If a male fathers a child but does not stick around nor pay for the child, does he still get to be called a "man"? Why or why not?

I myself an transgender. When I was living as a man years ago, people insisted I was not a "real" man. Of course now that I live as a woman, people who are not secure in their own genders insist I am still a "man".

Transgenders live as the opposite sex though. As far as all these other "genders", who knows. A lot of them want their own gender label and not even the LGBT community is really sure what most of the "special" labels mean.
It is like in middle school when everyone wanted a special label to be unique or fit in or whatever.

Well you can say it’s a spectrum with male and female on the extreme ends, “androgynous” in the middle; that said all the area in between does not have its own name, just varying levels of masculine and feminine. I’m not gonna call people anything that’s not in a (real) dictionary

I, personally, think there are only two genders, male and female. All the other genders just don't make sense to me.

I'd like to point out that although I can't relate to them, transwomen and transmen are, at the least, making some sense. That's because they still stay in the male female boundaries.

There are really two genders, but some people will find themselves uncomfortable being seen as either so I like to count nonbinary, but otherwise, I'll probably try to avoid anyone who tells me that there's more than two.

I think there are now over 2 dozen official terms for the varying gender identifiers. Personally, I would rather learn more about plant identification than gender identification, there is only so much room in my brain for data....but that's just me.
