This got me thinking about my relationship history (never a good thing). My longest two relationships were with American women. They were probably the closest relationships too. But if you date someone from another country, they tend to go back to their country. One wanted me to follow, one didn't. Four and a half years, and eighteen months, to answer the question.

American women like me more than English women do. They like me more than other English men too. I met an American friend's mum/mom a couple of weeks ago and she completely ignored the other English present and was just fascinated by me like I was a museum piece or something. For my part, I just had the best conversation with her. She was so warm, and funny, and interesting. It was a genuine joy just being around her.

I think I've veered off track here. Umm... four and a half years!

Forever. Just because you are the type of person who keeps on making/breaking relationship, does not mean you get to think the same about the rest of us.

  • My longest was a year long long-distance relationship. We were friends two years before that, and a year later are still best friends.

I don't consider anything a "serious relationship" until it doesn't last at least 6 months.
2,5 years for me and still going on.

Geez ... that one-half of these time intervals are marginal periods to be considered "relationship" times and that 3+ years is at the top of the scale shows that a lot of people on this adult site aren't adults or if they are then just barely.

Yep, 3 years+ is already considered a very long relationship today...
I wouldn't even consider "2-6 months" as a possible answer in such a poll. Everything less than 6 months couldn't have been a serious relationship.

  • 4 years, and I didn't learn my lesson, had a bunch of other relationships later on. But I'm finally old and wise, and I realize that women in my life actually contributed nothing. And I've never had so much peacefulness and self-realization as I had in my last year of being single. :)

I'm still in my longest! 10 months. It's going well. I think I'm going to marry this guy.

It might sound bad but he was my first serious official relationship. I've had them lasting 2+ years before but I was never the official girlfriend :/

    3 years. It was traumatic.
Unfortunately I'm not making the typical joke as if women are hard to handle. It was traumatic because of how it ended.

That's the highest I decided to go, otherwise there would be too many categories, in my opinion. I'm actually 20, what are you, 17 or something? Stop trying to look down on people because your intellectual level is nothing to be proud of.

Relationships can be any time length. Just because you're official for a month, doesn't mean that's as long as you've been 'close' emotionally. You could be talking for months before then.

21 actually and I wasn't looking down on anyone just assumed you were young because you stopped at only 3 years and I wondered why someone so young would even care about this.. No need to tell me what to do or what to be proud of cause honestly altho i can understand now i read it again how you could easily read it in a mean way.. btw I still say 6 months is not a proper relationship it's a 'fling'
