Your poll and your post ask two different questions. I'm answering the one in your post:

Since you slept with your friend basically just to have something to do ("it meant nothing"), I don't feel that there's any reason to wait before being intimate with someone new that you really like and want to be with not because you're bored and horny but because you have feelings for each other.

This assumes that you're using protection against disease, know that your friend is disease free, and know that you are, too.

If you were with your friend because you loved him and the sex had meaning, I would say it's appropriate to have a waiting period between partners. Appropriate, but even that rarely happens, so ultimately it's up to what you feel. It's a sure bet your friend isn't waiting before finding somene else to sleep wiht.
