Why should a mother stop breastfeeding? I know this woman who let her kids breast feed until they were in high school. Human breast milk is made for humans; this means no age limit. No other animal (besides humans) drink breast milk from another animal.

It's weird past a certain age. If they really want breast milk, they can either buy it or get their lover/special friend to give them some.

No animals supplement their offspring past weaning.

Humans do not need milk once solid food is sufficiently established.

Definitely until they're 21 years old.

You only think it's weird over 21? O_o

The WHO recommends up to two years. I see this as more og a guideline for places where formula is expensive or dangerous to make due to water quality. Living in a developed country, if I had a child, I'd aim for roughly a year. It really comes down to a mix of the child and mother's needs. Sometimes mums aren't able to for a mix of reasons and heaping guilt and stress on them does no good for anyone.

My mother would breastfeed me as a teenager!!! She would tell me that it was a natural thing for her! She wouldn't ever wear a bra and would lay back and slowly unbuttoned her top. I was a freshman in high school when she told me that she wanted to breastfeed me again! She told me that she needed me to drain her breasts !

As long as they want to, of course. Everything else would mean restricting people's freedom of choice.

I don't think there's a defined age to stop. Everyone's child is different and she should breast feed until she feels the time is right to stop.

Up to one year, but even a month or two is good.

Yiu should continue as long as you two both happy to do so. Well into adulthood if you really wanted. Relax and enjoy!

I don't see a reason why you should ever stop...
