You need an option for I have never been grounded. Some parents prefer just to beat the shit out of you and leave it at that.

    • Well it was intended for people who got grounded. So people who have not been do not have to comment and vote.

Shouldn't the other side have a voice? Including everyone in the conversation will make for a better one.

        • If you care so much you go make a poll. I really do not and that is not the point of my poll. That information is not important. I am not here to entertain you. You have the option to make any poll you want. So why are you bothering me about it?

29 years this March. Those despots keep me here in this barren, festerin' hellhole of a time-out corner, forced to subsist on vegetables and healthy cereals. Fiber One, Raisin Bran - I've seen it all, kid. Haven't eaten ice cream in decades. I screamed in horror as they put the cookie jar on a shelf I couldn't reach. Fuckers made me watch 'em do it.

Done my damnedest to make a break for the door, but every time I do, they sing their screeching siren song -- "ten... nine... eight..." I ain't no match for a countdown like that. God only knows what hell I'd face if they got to zero. A lecture. A spanking. Might even throw away my trusty sidekick, Poochie Bear. I shudder at the thought.

Hell, consider this my dying breath. I been chiseling away at the wall with the tip of my dunce cap and I caught a glimpse o' moonlight last night. Ain't gonna be nothin' left of me but the 28 notches on the floor. Tonight's the night, Poochie Bear. Next time we greet the sun, it'll be as free men. Who knows how long we'll last out there.

    Tonight's the night.

You know what's weird? I predicted your return to within a couple of days. It's either going to look like I'm a genius, that you and I are the same person, that IIN people move in mysterious ways, that it's a complete coincidence, or you are Halley's comet.

      Welcome back, flutterhalley.

    • Did you leave for good or not? Whenever you come back please let this be the first thing that you comment. I want to say something outlandish, and ridiculous, but I don't think I can withstand your horde of fan-girls, stalkers, and whoever else for your attention. So, I think I'll just leave it like this. A nice, fairly simple comment. You're cool or something. Don't comment on this first. Or do. Yeah. Do.

I was never grounded. Not because I was never pubished as a kid, but because I never went out and I had nothing to be grounded from.

I was never grounded either. If anything my parents had to push me to go to parties because I was that shy bullied kid who feared other teens.

  • I was ungroundable as a child, from the time I could walk I ignored all authority. When I was 9, a child therapist I saw for a brief time called it "Oppositional defiant disorder" (ODD). Mom called it my "soap box moments" as I liked to stand up infront of children, parents, teachers and even random strangers to make these strange hostile speeches. I was probably grounded for nearly everyday of my childhood. But seeing as I was such a sullen and withdrawn child in regards to positive social interaction, I had no friends to do anything fun with that could be taken away. The only thing you could do was take my books away, and my parents never dared do such a thing.

Grounded is such an American thing. Over here, I used to get sent to my room, given a damn good hiding and thats the end of it.

Nope. I didn't ever really get in trouble. I gave myself a time-out when I was three, because all of my friends were getting them. I know, I live on the edge.

Me neither. My parents didn't use random punishments - Instead when I did something wrong I just had to make it right, and that was it.
But I also was quite an easy child to deal with.

As a teenager i would get grounded for 1 - 3 weeks depending on the severity of the offense.

I don't have rules, therefore I can't possibly be punished for breaking rules.

I was a good kid, there was little need to ground me. I also rarely went out so it was kind of pointless. It happened once over riding in a trailer being pulled by a 4 wheeler without permission. I thought this was a really lame reason to be grounded but those things freaked out my mother. A few months later my friend's dad got permission from my parents to teach me how to ride a dirtbike.

I was once grounded for three fucking months. Or maybe two, I don't remember. I mean, it wasn't that horrible because I was only grounded without going to open parties or concerts, I could still go to house parties and go out in daytime. But still, it sucked.

The trick to getting away with grounding is to make your parents want you as far away from them (and the house) as possible. Grounding me was a punishment not for me, but for my parents, who knew my little boy mind was dialled all the way up to eleven even when I was behaving myself.

I don't think it would have ever crossed their mind to ground me and I don't remember ever being grounded. I do remember a lot of wandering around on my own, though.

    • I was the same and that still did not stop mine. I was always grounded and it usually ended up on the weekend. No matter what I did. Which sucked when I planned something. I did get out of grounding once but it was because doing so would mean that my parents lost money. So they said never mind.

I know I wish my parents had wanted me more, and I never minded being indoors but I'd hate having my plans disrupted and to lose a whole weekend? Ack! All my life I've lived for the weekend (it's 8pm on Friday night here and this as happy as I get all week). I'm sorry you lost some of yours. :/

I rarely got grounded, because my parents knew it usually didn't bother me that much. I really don't mind staying in for a while. Although, I insulted my mam once and she stopped me from going to a sleepover when I was 14, ha. That one annoyed me. So instead of getting grounded, she'd just stop me from going places with friends when I'd planned to. It didn't happen that often, though.

My older sister, on the other hand. Yikes! When was she not grounded?D: The only time she wasn't grounded was when she was out, giving my parents more reasons to ground her.:P

I can't remember how long, though. I usually got other forms of punishment.
