How long does it take for friends to become best friends?

My friend and I have been friends for about 3 yrs and we do just about everything together. I've called her my best friend several times. When pple come up to us and say u to must be best friends I say yes and She says no. So is that normal?

Oh, about, 72 years. Give or take a week.

I believe it not only depends on how long you've been friends, but also what experiences you have gone through with them and how you interact ( are you 100% comfortable, what you talk about, etc) All of these build up a strong and lasting friendship.

My best friend and I haven't been friends for as long as other "best friends" out there but when you know, you know. We've been through a lot, always been there for each other, can be our complete selves and never get sick of each other. That's what I think makes best friends.

It's the same with me and my "best friend"!

Some friends never become best friends. That's just the way it is. You may think of her as your best friend, while someone else is her best friend. That doesn't mean she doesn't consider you a very good friend, though.

    How long does it take?

It's not a specified limit of how long you have known or hang around with each other it's your level of connection.

Obviously you feel more connection towards her than she does for you OR she has got a closer friend.

Maybe you're too pushy with this "best friend" thing. It's really not that important.

I have a "best friend" but that doesn't mean that my other friends are less significant or anything.

Don't get hung up on this "best friend" label.

Some people don't like to give their friends labels, such as best friend, good friend, close friend or just plain old friends. But maybe you're not as close as you think you are. But why don't you just ask her yourself?

With me, I'd say it depends how much time you spend around each other but generally a couple of years or so.

It depends on both people in the friendship.

Some people only refer to their childhood best friend as their "best friend", even if they don't keep in touch as much as they do with most of their newer friends.

As an adult, I find the term "best friend" to be slightly juvenile sounding. Instead, I like to use the terms "good friend", or "close friend". My fiance is my "best friend" now, but I'll be calling him "husband" soon.
