How long do you expect to wait for intercourse in a new relationship?

When beginning a fresh relationship, if both parties are not virginal, how long do you expect to wait to have intercourse?

When using the term "relationship", I'm referring to while you and your partner are exclusive/monogamous.

During the dating period (before you discuss exclusivity) 98
Less than 1 month into the relationship 132
1-6 months into the relationship 204
6-12 months into the relationship 76
More than 1 year into the relationship 23
Wait until marriage 42
I don't have relationships, I just have sex 55

my personal oppinion is that you really shouldn't scedual when your going to have sex with a new person, you should wait until you and they are ready, that way you have a better understanding of each other, and will have a better idea of when the time is right, in my personal oppinion i view sex and something special between two people, not something you go up to some stranger and say hey wanna fuck? but thats just my personal view, yours may be the same or differernt it dosn't matter, it just depends who you are and what your views are

How can you demand exclusivity if your not putting out. It doesn't make sense.

I don't put a time limit on it. Sometimes it is quick. Sometimes it doesn't happen.

  • It depends on the girl and how often we dated and if I new her before.
I wouldn't stick around if she's the wait till marriage type.
I think those girls come with a bit too much religious baggage for me.
    LOL

    Why wait?

If we are every going to have it, lets just do it....if not, then why bother.

I'd want to wait at least until we knew each others names, you know, just to be on the safe side.

When answering this poll, please keep in mind that this question is not asking how long you'd wait in a relationship to lose your virginity. I am assuming that both parties involved are already sexually experienced.

what is wrong with just having sex? Why is that such taboo? I have also been told that only married people should brush their teeth together. WTF is up with people. Why not just live, it's not like you get to run through it again.

1-6: Why? I define "relationship" on a friend basis to begin with. Generally, I'll wait a month before having sex with a new friend, if she is in agreement and wants the same with me. In the 1-6 timeframe, it can be decided whether a more committed relationship should ensue or if we should just keep the relationship on a "friend" basis, and have sex occasionally, or no sex at all.

I think it's essential that all partners be ready and willing to actually make that step into a physical relationship. It may be 34.6 seconds, or 13 years. Sometimes one partner has to force the other partner into it, via drugs or simply pure physical force. But in the end, after the other partner has cried it our of his/her systems, (s)he will be grateful that their partner was willing to exert so much effort into having sex. I mean, if someone was going to drug or overpower me in order to sleep with me, I would be really impressed with his dedication. :]

Attention people, do not think you're anything other than a mammal because you are not. We all have hormones and we all have urges, enough said.

I'm pretty much a third date lay. First date, hugs and kisses at my doorway. Second date, major makeout session at his place or mine. Third date, get naked.
