How long can you live without sex?
I know masturbation is always a workaround, but it is not the same as staring at the top of someone's head when they are going nom nom in between your legs. The feelings are so overwhelming.

I've taken up celibacy since my last time. I can go forever if I felt like it.
19 years without sex. Not that long ago, I decided to take up celibacy. For the most part, I handle it very well. I gave up masturbation. I only run into a problem when I experience waves of horniness. The extremely intense ones are the worse.
I have a lack of sensation down there. I couldn't reach an orgasm. I could get near it but, the damn thing never came. I tried everything within my grasp to have a perfect masturbatory session and none of it worked to my expectations.
I felt like it served me no purpose and that I was wasting my time trying to do this.

I think the older you get the less important it becomes anyway.
I should start off by saying that I used to think of it as being more important than I do now. I would occasionally feel frustrated because I believed it was something that I absolutely must be participating in to be a normal adult. Eventually I got fed up with thinking about it that way and, when I did, I began to realize that there are certain aspects of relationships that bring me more pleasure than the actual act of sex.
Intimacy and trust mean more to me now. I mean the kind of whole-hearted trust where you reveal all of your vulnerabilities and can always have confidence that they will stay by you. It takes incredible effort and time to build but it is profound and brings you closer to a person than sex ever could. Sex provides only a temporary closeness where emotional and cerebral intimacy lasts a lifetime.
Not only that but I find doing things for myself brings me a surprisingly remarkable amount of enjoyment. I mean self-improvement, not just masturbation. When I invest in my own happiness, the need to find it in someone else decreases.
It's been years since the last time and I'm sure I will go many more without it, perhaps even the rest of my lifetime. It's not that I don't like it, because I do, but I can find happiness in other ways.
I am a 78 yr old male, lost my wife end of march and here in mid-june am climbing the walls. don't want a prostitute and don't think I want another long term relationship. Unless some sweetie falls into my lap, I guess it's Madam Palm & Lady Five Fingers. But I do so miss 'meow'.

I really enjoy it with the right person, but as I get older most of the time all I want to do when its time for bed is sleep.
Its always nicer to sleep with someone, but when I do I never sleep very well.

Actually, after I broke up with my gf (while still being a virgin) my goal is to actually die a virgin.
I think I'm a sex addict and there is a point I reach where everything becomes all consuming about sex until I get it. It's between about 1-2 weeks.
