How far away do you think classifies as a long distance relationship?

I've heard people saying 30 minutes away is long distance. Others say 4 hours. Others speak of different countries entirely. I usually think of it as 30 minutes away = 1 or 2 meetups a week, 4 hours away = 1 meetup every week or two and such. Just curious really.

30 minutes away 39
2 hours 178
4 hours 78
TWELVE THOUSAND HOURS 42

Any distance that keeps you from each other for more than a week at a time.

Honestly 30 minutes is hardly far away at all. My bf and I live around that far from one another, and have certainly never had that thought cross our minds.

My parents drive more than that to go to work every morning, to put it in perspective. To a non driver 30 minutes seems like a lot. To a driver thats right down the road :P

For me personally it's 4 hours. I've been in a long distance relationship before, and could manage 2 hours perfectly well, but after about a year of being 4 hours away things really took their toll. With busy modern day schedules and the distance combined you don't see each other half as much as you'd hope. Both members of the relationship would need to be seriously commited for it to pull through.

I agree with most of the comments. I'd say any distance that keeps you apart for more than a week at a time, or if you haven't physically met. My friend has a bf in England (we live in Ohio) whom she met on Xbox live, and they've been tight for a couple months now. They talk on Facebook and Skype pretty much daily.

My boyfriend actually lives 1/2 hours away. We don't see it as a long distance relationship tho. He stays over about 5/6 days a week, or I stay over at his (since we still live with our parents). Its also easier since we go to the same school.

I don't find 30 minutes to be long at all. Driving to my work is 30 minutes. I think a long distance relationship would probably be 2 hours or more.

It depends upon your ability to see each other, as opposed to distance. 25 miles is a long way for a non-driver but is nothing for someone who does drive.

I guess to international airline pilots, there's no such thing as a long-distance relationship.

I considered a few hours or so apart not to be far distance. Countries/States apart would qualify. For instance, let's say I lived in Toronto and my lover lived in Berlin, that would be long distance. Fours hours away may take some time to get to the lover, but compared thousands of miles it really isn't that far.

I guess more than an hour away. My bf used to live an hour away from me but one of us would drive and stay the night about every day. Being in Korea is long distance though I'd say.
