How does one create a political party?

I am increasingly growing dissatisfied with the current state of politics. I have been unable to find one single party that is able to address all of my needs and concerns. I want to create my own political party so, that I can create the changes which I wish to see in our world.

Is this normal? How does one do this? Thanks.

You have to start small. Very, very small. First come up with a set of core principles and write them down. They must be very clearly defined and easy to understand.

Then you have to gather a group of people together who believe in what you believe in. Take time to develop these ideas even more. Maybe at first it will only be one or two other people who like to talk about it over coffee.

Then together you have to plan ways to expand your group. Begin a campaign to get your message out. As your message spreads, host larger and larger events. More and more people join you that are excited about your vision.

The odds are a million billion to one that you will be successful by any measure, but if you feel so strongly about something you should still try.

Get a whole shit pot of booze and snacks, send out a bunch of invites and voila, you've got a party. Oops, wrong kind of party. Well, then you get a whole shit pot of booze and snacks, send out a bunch of invites and voila, you've got a whole lotta friends to start your political party with.

You get a bunch of idiots with wallets bigger than their brains and teleport them inside the white house.

You can't really make a party "official". The closest you can get to official is getting it on ballots, but a more immediate goal would be to gather support for your ideas (presented under the label of your party), until what you have looks a bit like a party.

    1) Know what you want to do. This might sound simple, but political philosophy is difficult and vaguely advocating common sense solutions without any clarification isn't going to help anyone when you're in power and decisions get really tough. This might require a lot of reading and patience, so be prepared for that. If you're super serious it would be useful to take some classes in political philosophy before you start.

    2) Write a manifesto. Put care into making sure it can stand up intellectually. When you're just beginning you don't have to write and publish your manifesto all in one go. You could write it as a series of well-coordinated blog posts, for example. You could make accompanying video content and a strong social media presence. Just make something which you can show people which represents your vision.

    3) Collect people who will support you. You can't have a party without support. If you can't find support with people in your real life, use the internet. Find political forums. Show them your your manifesto. Drum up some support. If you have genuinely valuable and marketable ideas, support will come. If you can't, go back to your manifesto and make it better and repeat until you do.

    That's all I've got :P

Creating a new political party and changing the structure of the beast is near impossible. We're all just part of the machine.

  • It's nice to see someone who's actually prepared to do something about the current state of affairs, rather than just complain about it, expecting someone else to fix it.

That being said, I unfortunately have no idea how to do this. Also, you didn't mention which country you live in and I'm sure the rules for starting a political party are different in different countries.

Here in South Africa, just about any fool can start their own political party and all they have to do is lie, appeal to the masses and they get enough votes to actually stand a chance. Its quite sad. I wish you luck on your political journey. I hope you can make all the changes you would like to.
