How do you feel when well off people plead poverty?

How does it make you feel when people/someone says they've got no money, or worse, they're 'poor', when they've actually clearly got enough to be comfortable? I don't mean a filthy rich person complaining they're poor, I mean when people say they're hard up or struggling when they've got a really well paid job and go on holiday every year. Or when someone says things are tight financially and then the next week, they've bought a new car, or booked a holiday. To me, if you're that hard up, you don't go and buy a car or book a holiday. To me, 'poor' or hard up means not being able to pay bills or eat properly. Then of course there are some people in the world who live in extreme poverty : ( Anyway, it really bothers me when people do this and I'm wondering what others think. Please answer the poll with which applies most to you and/or comment if it brings up different emotions entirely. Thanks.

Well, I feel very well and am taking most things well. You never said whether you wanted to see my well or not. You just welled. You'd like... like it. It's... well... a well. It's a good well, though. As wells go. Which they usually don't. They normally stay where they are.

Okay, I'll level with you. I don't even own a well. I made this all up (it's an illness). You can see my beauty spot if you want, though. Be warned, it's in darkest Africa.

I think a short holiday every year and a car that works are necessities to many people who want to have the quality of life they expect, and I don't think people who have those things are definitively "well off".

When people say they are poor, what I think they mean is that they can't live what they deem to be a good quality of life with the money they have. Not being able to eat well is much worse than just "poor" to me. I would describe that as impoverished.

I am annoyed when people that could be well-off complain about being poor, but they're not because they have an addiction which they seem to think is everyone's fault but their own and, hence, try to drag others down into that hole with them.

I'd bet you that 99.9% of them are in debt up to their eyeballs and are probably in much worse financial shape than it appears. It takes no money to have a house, car and toys, if your credit rating is high enough.
    Don't be so judgmental!

honestly, it annoys me alot. To me, poor is when you are scrambling to get your bills paid, working a job yet still having to find scrap metal just to get enough money to get food for the week, and to keep you out of trouble with the bills and house payments

i understand needing a reliable car, but if you can afford a brand new one, your not poor by my standards. you can get a nice used car for under $4000 that wont leave you stranded.

Well everybody's version of poor is relative

My PARENTS are one (two?) of those people. Made me feel like we were so poor growing up and poor now. As if we were struggling, but still going on vacation every year and getting a new car whenever they felt we needed one. They complain about having so many bills like paying off the house and cars and electricity. They're probably bad at managing their money cuz they should have finished paying off the house and cars by now. (nurse and engineer)

You dont know what peoples lives at home really are like. Someone could appear to be doing well but really are not. Someone can have a house but are in major debt and about to lose it. So just having a house does not mean you can pay the bills for it. Also someone might eat properly but it does does not mean they live in a very nice house. It goes to priorities. Are you going to spend money on food or money on a nicer house? Some might pick a nice house some might pick food. I might pick food since I eat all the time. You really have no idea what type of living situation they have. Also just since someone is struggling or barely making it they might have money every once and awhile. A lot of things can be bought on credit it doesn't mean you HAVE that money.
