I would hit a woman for all the same reasons I would hit a man, a child or an animal. I'm definitely not a violent person, but if I try to defend myself and violence is the only available option I sure as hell will throw a punch or two. Can we finally get over the whole man/woman thing? The whole men are stronger and should protect the weak women is stupid; while usually most men have more physical strength that the average woman, it's not like all men are the hulk while all women are like marry jane.
We're all people and should respect each other, period. Genders only signify our roles during reproduction, every time else we're human beings with all the same needs.

I think that violence should be a last resort, so failing everything else here's the rule - fight someone your own size. If the girl is equal strength as the guy it's a fair fight. If the girl hurt a guy physically then a guy should have the right to fight back. I am a girl. I think we should try to be equal - not better - in every way so stop doing shit and using ''you can't hit me Im a girl'' as an excuse cus it's an embarassment to stronger girls...
i would never hit a woman for any reason. I've had women cheat on me, use me, and frame me for something i didn't do and not once did i hit any of them or even raise my voice. There is only one time that i would EVER hit a woman and that is if SHE used to be a HE.
If the circumstances are serious enough that violence is called for, gender plays no part.
If a woman hits a man first, yes. If women are going to struggle for equal rights they can't just get the perks and not the downsides. I guess that's just the way I see it, though.
In certain situations it is acceptable. But generally, men shouldn't hit women just as women shouldn't hit men.

I think chivalry is bullshit. Abusive relationships are a nono, whether it's a man hitting a woman or a woman hitting a man. However, I think that if a woman hit a man then by all means, he can hit back. Why let her beat him to a pulp while he just takes it?

If she's trying to kill you, yes. If she hits you for talking smack about her mom, No. If she tried to hit you with an object, take it away from her, or just RUN! Violent people are usually not around me because I have zero tolerance for this behavior and mindset in my personal circle. Having said that, if a man (or anyone, for that matter) attempted to assault me without just cause, I would defend myself to the death, provided that I viewed them as a real threat to my safety. If not, I would simply take the "high road" and they could take the "low road" and I'd be in Scotland before Ye.
"Hit" is something that shouldn't be required. If a woman assaulted me, i would not "hit" her, if it was a circumstance in which I was in actual danger I would take the weapon and/or disable her until calm. I don't think Hurting her is the solution. If it comes to hitting, don't be with that person anymore.

I agree with hellboy333 women want equality then they have to deal with the negative parts of equality aswelss as the good. If someone says a man should never hit a woman then they themselfes are sexist.
It's fuckin equality. Women want to be treated equal as long as it means they don't have to do anything hard, or get drafted, or pay for dinner, or take the medicine they dose out, which is NOT equal. granted, there is a threshold of reasonability to it, if ur woman slaps you in the face it's not okay to close ur fists and beat the hell out of her. And even if it's just once and I deserve it i wouldn't hit her back. But the second I feel like I'm being attacked in a physical manner ie: claws in the face, fists, multiple strikes or kicks toward the groin, you can be damn sure I am going to respond in a similar matter that I would if a man attacked me. And some women do shit like that under the assumption that their man isn't going to it back to them, which is way fucked up. Thinking that "I can smack and hit him whenever I want because I'm a woman and I know he isn't supposed to hit me back-".
And NO I'm not talking about black eye, missing teeth, Rihanna face kind of shit. Because in most situations, that kind of force is not necessary. But some, it is. It's like me saying that just because I'm a man, women should let me grab their chests whenever I want, and they shouldn't call the cops. Or that in certain situations I can spit in their faces and that can't smdo it back because I'm a man. It's absolutely ridiculous.

No one argues that men and women are the same strength. They aren't. That is a biological fact. Having equal rights does not rely on having equal physical strength.
It is never ok for a big person to bully a small person, and a man hitting a woman is bullying, gender aside. It's as simple as that.
The middle choice is obviously the correct choice. I don't see why there is even a discussion here. If a woman starts a fight, then the man without a doubt has the right to defend himself.

No one should hit anyone unless it's consensual (giggity) or in self defense. Gender is irrelevant. I am a woman who has been hit by men who picked fights with me (both were drunk and assaulting me at the bar where I work). That was wrong of them because I didn't deserve to be hit, not because I'm a woman.

Only in self defense, and the same can be said if the tables are turned. I hate the whole "Men need to protect the weak women". It's not like all men are these huge protecters, and women are weak and unable to fend for themselves. True, men are typically stronger than women, but that doesn't mean that they are superior, and neither are women to men. We are all equal and should have equal rights and responsibilities.

I think if a man hits a woman he should be man enough to admit it to his friends and family! Not deny it! The woman should never make excuses either and pretend she fell down the stairs etc. She should let everyone know exactly the sort of man he is.

As a girl, I think it's strange that if we were to hit a man first they still wouldn't be allowed to hit us back. But pretty much every guy I've spoken to about the situation said they'd never hit a girl anyway, no matter what the circumstance. Which is nice to know I guess.
