How do i reply to this text?

Long story short there is a guy that I've always had a thing for and he does this thing in which he randomly texts me and starts talking to me and is all sweet and then equally randomly he stops texting like nothing ever happened and we never talk again until he decides to randomly text me again. He is no good for me so I try to avoid him but it's hard when he's being nice to me. So we were being friendly over the phone and then as usual we stopped texting just because, but that was good because that meant I could forget him and move on. But now he just texted me "it's funny how easily people forget other people". Obviously saying that I'm the one who didn't text him back which is unfair because we both stopped texting and he is playing the victim role now. Should I say something like "yeah, that applies to you", or should I even answer at all?

By replying, she leaves herself open to more text messages. If he is as "crazy" as i think, he would probably take the smiley face as a positive

Cheeky sod! If someone sent me that, I'd probably just agree with them and laugh at it, making it sound like he actually is forgettable. Which isn't particularly nice, but if it were me, I'd want to cut him off. I don't like people like that. That's just me, though. Do what you think's best. Maybe I shouldn't be so quick to judge him because I don't know him, but he sounds manipulative to me. No good. Seriously though, just go with what you want to.:)

Yeah I agree with "bananaface", he sounds a little manipulative and some sort of passive-aggressive LOL (maybe I'm exagerating but I hope you get the point).
I hate those guys (and girls, but I'm a girl so...) that just give you attention when they want to, and expect that you always respond to it, like you're some sort of dog that has to be there when you call him and later you ignore because you're not just in the mood to play.
Honestly, i'll try to be a little indifferent and funny just to not make things weird, texting something like "I know right? LOL" or whatever, BUT, if I were you, i'd try my best to be away from him.

the guy is obviously disturbed and just tries to suck energy from you - leave him to sort himself out and dont reply to him until he apologizes for his crass behaiviour but it will likely take a couple of decades or so before he comes to his senses

I wouldn't say he is obviously saying it to you, just say something where you agree with him but don't really hint at anything. Maybe he's trying to keep the conversation going and has had other people you are unaware of forget about him.
