How do i lucid dream?

Yesterday i found some information on the internet about lucid dreaming and also some techniques on how relax fast. I need some help from people who have experienced lucid dreams, to explain me some stuff. First of all, when i tried to go in sleep paralysis, i had shorter breath and a chilling in my body, so did i do it right? Also every time i tried this, it was about 15-20 minutes long. I never actually made it cause it was hot in my room and there were dogs barking who distracted me. I also had a dream which i could remember, this noon actually, but i couldnt control me and i was in third person view. Is lucid dreaming easy, or anything close to what i described? Is it normal to want to try this?

  • lucid dreaming is awesome. I have often been able to control my dreams, and i learnt this really cool and easy trick. It works pretty well... Here it goes!
Wake up in the morning. Look at the hand you write with, and ask yourself "am i dreaming?" the answer will obviously be NO. While eating breakfast, repeat the process. Look at the same hand and ask the same question to which you'll answer "no". Do that as many times as you can (lunch, at work or in class, supper, snack, while whatching tv...).
And before going to sleep. How this works: we often dream of things that we've seen often in our past day, and so in your dream, you'll look at your hand. Your brain will automatically ask itself: am i dreaming? Point is, you won't be able to answer NO that time. Hope you got it.
Last trick, when you realize that you are in a dream, turn on yourself (360 degres). For some reason that keeps you in the dream.
It's normal if it doesnt work the first time , try it for a whole week and see if it works. Hope it does, have fun!

It's like the third time I hear of this lucid dreaming on this site. For one of the posters, he did it and now it's causing him problems with his grasp on reality.

Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me and mumbo can be a dangerous dude.

Very and extremely normal, a lot of people would want to do this, to be aware that you are dreaming, and occasionaly be able to control it.

I have lucid dreams, not really right now, i think my ability to do it is fading. But i think i know how you lucid dream, or a way. You meditate then you open your "third eye" and your able to control your dreams. But i dont know how i was able to lucid dream, i did meditate once it might be from that time. It might acually be genetic.

Idk if its hard or easy, because when i lucid dream, it just happens without me wanting to do it. But cant control it. Once i was aware, it was not easy to lose control, when i was aware, i was aware for almost the whole dream.

  • This is an unhelpful comment, but all of your comments about keeping track of reality remind me of Inception. Lol, good movie.

It's extremely easy. I only lucid dream. Start with being able to concentrate enough to wake yourself up. Then go from there

One of the most important things to do is to develop a mental picture. It doesn't matter what it is, just a simple, easy to remember picture. Throughout the day, close your eyes for a few minutes and try to imagine your picture. And don't keep changing it. Recognition is key.

Imagine your picture before you go to sleep. Concentrate on it. It might take awhile, but eventually, you'll start seeing the picture while you're dreaming. It'll be in unusual places sometimes like on windows, mirrors, etc., so you need to focus. I once saw mine- a pumpkin- a a bathroom stall door.

Anyhow, when you see your picture somewhere other than your mind, it should alert you that you're dreaming.

Really hope this helps! It worked for me. And remember, be patient. It may take months before you have a lucid dream.

"First of all, when i tried to go in sleep paralysis, i had shorter breath and a chilling in my body, so did i do it right?"

What??? Don't do that, sleep paralysis is a whole other condition that has nothing to do with lucid dreaming

I learned to lucid-dream when I was a child, by lying in bed and thinking "This is a dream" over and over and over until I fell asleep. I don't remember how many nights it took me, but one night in my dream I was just like "hey, this is a dream!" and I got better and better at it.

The key to lucid dreaming is to ask yourself habitually during the day, "am I dreaming?" If you get into that habit, you will ask it in the actual dream. Then you will become conscious in your dream. Also, while you're on the path towards lucid dreaming it helps to record your recollections of dreams upon waking. Either with a voice recorder or in a journal. Have fun!

I've talked with this guy on omegle about the first thing you said.
He said that i should do reality checks like make sure that im not dreaming throughout the day. Then when i sleep, i could do a reality check and realize that it doesnt make sense.

I spent two years trying to learn and never managed it. I can't be hypnotised, either.

My motives weren't exactly pure. I just wanted to dream about Evangeline Lilly on a beach.

Well, one technique is to establish a regular wake up time with an alarm clock ( One with a loud, obnoxious sound). Eventually, your brain will activate and wake up about five to 20 minutes prior to the alarm going off. What you do then, is set several different alarms with a stopwatch or beeper or something, even your phone. The alarms should be about 6-10 minute intervals, and then slowly accumulate to more and more time. As you drift in and out of sleep you'll be induced into a lucid dream where you think you're awake bu are actually dreaming. It's tough stuff and I'm still trying to perfect it.
