How come some people think "block" is some big scary threat?

Sometimes I get on meetme where there is a lot of negativity.
Anyways some people threaten to block others.

Alright, so how come some people act like they are making such a huge threat? Like, "Oh you want to be mean. I will block you!"
Do they not realize that no one cares?
To me it is about as big a threat as if a telemarketer or bill collector said they won't call anymore.

    I think it's hilarious.

    I have a few who have blocked me on this site, acting like they're punishing me. It's really more of a reward, and confirms to me that they're too immature or stupid (usually both) to either defend their stance, or ignore shit they don't want to put up with.

    It's great when they threaten to block, too. Omg...yeah, I'm quaking...please don't...haha.

    And then they continue to bitch about how mean I am, anyway, and obsess over it. Fuckin hilarious.

    If I say somethung you don't like, by all means, call me out on it. But having a tantrum and blocking me doesn't make you look like the winner you think it does.

      It's always the "tough guys" blocking me on this website after they've just gone on some rant about freedom of speech or that they'd like to harm/kill people they disagree with, but they can't even handle reading differing opinions on the internet. It seems like the mentally ill are getting way more access to the internet these days than in the past and it just enables their behavior.

    Because it is a scary threat. If someone blocks you they are essentially deleting your thoughts, your cares, your entire IDENTITY! You’re whole existence can be erased at the click of a button. And it’s not like we have lives outside of social media. It’s TERRIFYING!!

      And do you want to know what is EXTRA corny? On one message about it, someone said something about "Eat the block".
      My first thought was, "I thought the members of that site ate paste and paint chips".

          Let me tell you, the childishness of meetme is worse than anything ever seen here.

          Now don't kick me for thinking this but when i read that "eat the block", the first thing that popped into my mind was someone eating one of those wooden letter blocks that preschoolers play with.
          So much for cookies and milk for a snack.

              I do not know what the rules there are since a few of my posts got deleted even though there wan't any profanity.

              meetme is technically a dating site but it is more of a dump for bitter people to complain about politics and how they people. That is mostly in the "discuss" section.

              OK best I can describe it - it is the worst of FB and a dating site combined. There are a lot of thirsty creeps there.

    I've blocked a couple of people but only because they are insufferable losers who won't shut up. I don't do it as some form of punishment. It's more that having to read their inane, droll posts is punishing me and I need a break. After a bit I unblock them. After all, even the biggest losers deserve a second or third chance.
