How can parents think it's ok to circumsize

Like seriously how can they think it's ok to cut off a piece of your baby, it's fucked. It's like bobbing your dogs tail. It shouldn't be allowed if someone wants to get circumsized it should be there choice. I mean like at least here in the U.S. it's all about something being your choice there's all these anti rap rallies and feminists and such but why isn't anyone actually making any progress to defending pur new borne? My parents had my circumcised when I was born and it may sound silly but it is one of many reasons why I hate them. I litterally can't stand the sight of them, forcing your will and desires on someone or something that can't defend it's self or say no is disgusting. Sorry I'm ranting at this point but just yea

  • It more or less became common medical practice in the US, but only pretty recently are parents being asked by doctors and are actually reconsidering the practice.

It's outdated and no longer considered best medical practice. But it has been normalised in the US and people don't really think much.

It's not the norm here. The only circumcised one in our family is my cousin, who had to be done for actual medical purposes when he was like...8-10 I think? So not his choice, but it was to solve a medical issue, so...

In health class, the topic did come up, and my teacher talked about how her father had to have one due to an infection in his late 60's.

It is easier to keep clean post-circumcision, and better to have it when you are an infant and do not remember than as an adult. Also keeps your religious options more open. ;)

I was circumcised at 10. I wasn't given any explanation except that if I didn't get it done it would hurt later in life. I don't regret it.

I've never spoken to another guy about it but here everyone is anonymous. So guys. What is sex like with a foreskin? Is it painful if going into a tight vagina? Questions questions. Comments please.

  • It's ok to feel like that about your parents. They did not care about you enough to consider these important issues. I had an adult circumision and the recovery wasn't that painful. It was to some extent, but still ok, not a big deal. Anyways make sure you have enough documentation to avoid things like this for your children, unless there is a medical reason behind it. This is the only thing you can do.

There's no real purpose for it but it doesn't cause any harm. I'm not a fan of it either, but it's really not worth getting worked up over; there are bigger problems. I think it's becoming less common in the US, I wouldn't be surprised if it died out naturally eventually. Also, you have to be careful with fighting against religious customs, this can and has been used as anti-semitic rhetoric.

Well its not like they put the baby to sleep when they do it. Which I would say us pretty harmful.

They always use anesthesia so it doesn't really hurt at all. Again, I'm not a fan of it myself. I just don't think it's a big deal.

    • So now if I don't want my own body to be mutilated against my will, I need jewish approval or else I am anti-semitic? I am sick of those bastards and their idiotic rhetoric, really.

Did you read what I wrote? Because that's not what I wrote.

"I am sick of those bastards." Really great way of convincing me you're not antisemitic, something I never even accused you of.

        • You said that if you fight against religious customs you might be accused of antisemitism and this is in the context of circumcision. Jews having this as a religion doesn't mean anything to me. If I say I don't want circumcision for any of my children and I fight against this idea since it makes no sense unless there is a medical reason for it are you going to tell me I might be accused of something from the antisemitic rhetoric? If you decide that your daughter should not wear a hijab this means you can be accused of anti-islamism? I don't understand your antisemitic point. Just because they invented it or they use it as a tradition doesn't mean anything. They are not the masters of it and I don't need their approval for it or for not doing it. And I don't really care about convincing you I am antisemitic. I don't care about jews either. I don't understand why people need to explain everything they think and feel like nowadays. I don't need to convince anyone that I am not racist. I might be and I don't care what others think about it.

It's a common practice that was religious based, but became the norm over time for various reasons.

At least you don't have to worry about phimosis, additional cleaning (get under the foreskin, or it'll stink real bad), accidental foreskin tears if sex was a little too rough, and not having to recover for weeks after adult circumcision (that includes painful boners).
