Is it normal to have a friend that would rather insult me, and make me feel like shit about myself because they have this impulsive "need" to be right about everything, including subjects she/he doesn't know anything about, or doesn't know the all the variables of a situation?

you should keep the friend long enough to atleast cuss them out ..i mean there always building themselves up by dumpin on you all the time,use them as a test of how it feels to stand up for yourself,cuss them out you might like it then kick them to the curb
Yes it is normal to have that "friend", I'm pretty sure everyone knows someone like that. Should you be their friend? No.

You should be out straight and tell your friend how you feel. If he/she doesn't change their ways, leave them and find a true friend. Nobody has the right to do that to you.

I'm in the exact same situation, when you eventually tell them they act like nothing happened and it was a joke! AND if you finally tell them that NOBODY likes them they just insult you more and... still stick to you like a leech.

No its not that. I had a friend like that before. When i would say oh lets get something to eat he would reply like a right prick. Its been nearly a year that I dont see him and trust me my life has been the best ever. I think you should do the same if you know whats good for yourself.
My mom was actually the one who had a fiancee like this, instead of sitting there and not being their friend, tell them what they are doing, because they are only going to go up to be real d*ickweeds. Save them if you can.

My little group of friends and I used to know somebody like that. I'm pretty sure none of us talk to him anymore. At least I don't. Doing that is not only a way of getting the hint across to them, it can also be a way to give them time to (hopefully) take a good look at themselves and maybe even strive to improve.
