Horrible fear of dots

For as long as I can remember I have had a horrible fear of dots. Not only dots, it's worse with clusters of small objects and it's by far the worst with clusters of holes. I looked it up on the Internet and the closest thing I could find is asymmetriaphobia but I'm not afraid of asymmetrical things. Not like polka dots, I mean if I see a cutie in a polka dot bikini I wouldn't be scared. It's just clusters of really small dots and holes, for example crab holes on the beach or really starry nights. This also happens with weird designs or weird layers of things. Whenever I see them i scream and cry and I don't want to look at anything for while. It's embarrassing. it makes me shiver just thinking about it.

Can anyone help me?

  • its called tripophobia, I have it too. I wouldn't suggest looking it up cuz some pictures pop up but I did and I just scrolled down so I didn't have to look at them. anywho, my case is a lot less severe and my worst fear is touching those things that look like hardened white sea sponge looking hinges on the beach, and I can just barely stand looking at honeycomb :P

I have been like this for as long as I can remember! Sooo glad I'm not alone. For me its clusters of dots and weird patterns. I don't cry but I get goosebumps everywhere and get rediculously itchy. Like even behind my eyes. Uuugghh so annoying!!

I was actually like you. I get goosebumps everywhere and was about to cry. Even just thinking of dots and how it looks like give me goosebumps and I'm not liking the feeling :/ I thought i was the only one having a case like this. So I research about it and it was called Trypophobia.

Oh my goodness! I thought I was weird, but ok, i'm feeling slightly normal now (sort of). I can't stand dots either!!!!!! So glad i'm not the only one. I'm not as bad as you...I get goosebumps and feel sick if I see a cluster of dots and it's usually things that can be touched (I had a good laugh when you mentioned crab sand dots...I live on a beach and have to always look up when i'm walking...or go around squishing them as it makes me feel sick)...this is quite nice to know i'm not the freak everyone thinks i am! haha.
I don't mind stars or pokadots etc. My husband mentioned he hadn't had chicken pox and there's been an outbreak of chicken pox lately and i'm having dreams about my kids getting them and I wake up feeling sick. I'm taking them to the Drs to get immunised as I can't bare the thought of having to deal with it!

Oh, and the thought of nits in my hair...*vomit*...I could go on, but it's making me feel slightly ill just thinking about it, not to mention the massive amount of goosebumps i'm getting (which isn't good as they're dots!!!!) LOL

Have you ever seen what it looks like when you get a tattoo removed??? All the ink comes out of your pores.. omg, I'm crying and feel like I have bugs all over me even talking about it! I honestly thought I was a freak! I cannot believe I'm not alone and people understand this fear! I can't handle dots... especially pores of any kind..like sponges etc. Luckily I can handle sponge bob tho. Lol. Anyways, I am so glad to know I'm not alone. Thank you for talking about it!

    My personal list:
-Pretty much any google image of trypophobia
-metal shavings on a magnet and how they move and gather
-layered, dirty snow and ice on the side of a road
    -spider's eyes
-in high school I dissected a giant African cricket (or grasshopper?). It was a female and it's body was full of eggs...ugh yuuuuck.

I even got uncomfortable and itchy reading this post and its comments because all I could think about was the images I saw a few days ago when someone else on here posted about their trypophobia.

Think of all of the pixels (dots) you're looking at now. Makes one wonder if you'll avoid computers because they're a collection of dots performing a unified function.

omg, i honestly thought i was the only one! Im not afraid of holes, mine is purely dots! They put me off eating if one is on my plate, ive thrown a number of clothes away when the smallest of dots has stained them and i cant watch a film with any actors with a mole on their face-i have to turn it off! I cant even write a full stop, i have to write 2 of them, as seeing more than one isnt so bad!

Polka dots aren't asymmetrical, they're symmetrical
