Hitting???

When I'm with my friends or boyfriends if their giving me a hard time, being playful, or being annoying I'll slap them on the arm. And even though it's playful i always feel they perceive it differently, harsher than what was intended.. they don't ever seem hurt or offended. I don't know, i use to abuse my sister when i was really young and now i feel guilty for the smallest thing... any tips to quit the habit? is this normal?

really? I've alaays considered slaps or punches on the arm to be playful or flirtatious. I'm sure many guys do they probably dont react as you'd expect

the only time I doubted the above was when I made... some comment and this chick punched my arm insanely hard. I looked at her thinking wtf and she was laughing, so I smiled too. but inside I was crying

sure it's reassuring. it's just suggesting: trust me even though I'm lying...

or does it mean to trust me when I say I'm lying? could it be that I'm implying how I'm "lying in wait" for something. which could also mean I'm trustworthy but things aren't what they seem i.e. lying via selective truth? maybe is my entire username a lie in itself. I'd be happy to tell you which of these interpretations is the truth... but could you really trust my word?

No a punch on the arm I think is something friends and close relative just do sometimes. A slap on the face is considered something very disrespectful and basically saying "You're worthless". I see friends do and relatives do this to each other a lot. Sometimes it doesn't even mean your mad. Sometimes its means "Good job bro. Proud of you". Generally a sock on the shoulder/arm is a way of saying "Good job" for those who do not like expressing themselves but want to show admiration or appreciation. Which generally means good job, proud of you, or thank you. You know those macho type that dont enjoy being Mushy.

Until you haul off and knock his nose i.to his cranial cavity its ok to mess around and play hit his arm and what not my fiance does this to me and since i have alot of muscle on me it feels like shes barely grazing me but when shes real pissed off she hits pretty good and we settle it. Do not let your past indiscretions get you down youve done wrong and have realised that wrong and have corrected it its nothing but a lil harmless fun

Hitting another person 'in fun' is a pretty juvenile thing to do. Adults just shouldn't be acting that way. You should probably keep your hands to yourself and develop your playful banter skills.

Yeah, my sister used to do that.

That reminds me, I should really bring some flowers to the cemetery...

Jesting aside: I don't know how to quit habits.
