High school drop out?

Ok so heres the thing, I am going to be a junior in high school next month but I failed all of my classes in 9th and 10th grade, it was not because I am dumb...I actually have above normal intelligence, I know all of the material they teach. ( I was having personal conflict at home and had to deal with a lot of stress making it hard to focus on school work)

My question is- should I just drop out and get my G.E.D or try to make up all of those credits?

Well you've lost a couple of years but trust me, not everyone follows the same path. All that will matter in a few years is that you got that diploma, everything else is replaceable. I know how hard it is to deal with family matters and then also school.
I would go for making up the creds, sitting through high school, no matter how awful, still teaches you a thing or two, like a crash course in how to deal with assholes and immature people, with an education thrown in for free!
but you should really think about speeding up the process because you got a few years behind.
Try planning some summer school classes or taking a few of the basic classes online over the break, English, history or something mandatory like Gov or Econ.
Talk with your academic adviser, or school counselor, if you go to a decent school there's almost nothing they won't do to help you,
I'm rooting for you, get it done!

hi.... its normal... dont give up your studies... continue... as says failure is the piller of success.... keep on going and study. because now this present world is full of obstacles, problems and ofcourse challenging .... so the weapon to fight with it is only by obtaining higest education... with best of luck from my side and keep studying.

Does your district have an alternative high school? A couple of my friends decided to switch and they help you catch up pretty fast, this one chick I knew was a year behind me, got knocked up, failed all her core classes but somehow after she switched schools, she graduated 6 months before me. Something to look in to.

I see you're a tard, which I was as well. I can probably give you some advice.

Stop focusing on all the "TASKS", and start focusing on GETTING KNOWLEDGE. I love reading about science and stuff, but I hate nature science?? One day I realized that it didn't really seem logical. So I suddenly started doing school work because I wanted to learn about everything. I basically liked it when it wasn't labeled school, so I just sort of "removed" that label!

I've been a bully and always hated school, but now I'm at university. I'm still a little lazy, but what the hell, I always manage to get done with things at least.

I'm the same way as you. My IQ (tested at a Uni) is 132 and I dropped out of school at 16 and got my GED at 18. I hated hated HATED high school. Not only was it hell, but the curriculum was so boring and mechanical and except for in math, I could almost out-teach the teacher at ever turn that I couldn't stand another minute of it.

Maybe it's because I'm lazy, maybe it's because I'd rather like a challenge every once in a while, either way, I say go for it. Besides, just think of all those credits you have to make up

  • I can understand - it can be hard when you are a couple years older than your class in high school. So you may want to consider GED. Your call - what's important is that you are not dumping on yourself & want to carry on with your ed. Good on you - especially despite this set back.

I bombed in high school too. But deans list under grad & grad school. Not everyone follows the same path.

no i dont think u should. even if you are above average, stay in. Im sorry but, good colleges are not going to accept high school dropouts.

To whoever asked "why didn't they hold you back?"
Umm... Its high school. They don't hold you back. If you fail, its your fault.
It will probably cost a lot to make up all those credits.

no ged means you were too lazy, cracked out of it, or pregnant to finish high school. They say its the same... but colleges and jobs look at them as a sign of laziness, and the inability to complete a job. For some people that's all they can do, but unless you are borderline retarted you should get a diploma.

Just do it, do all your work, go to all your classes, show your teachers that you want to learn, and are working fairly hard, and they will pass you. extra credit helped me graduate big time!

My district doesn't hold students back until senior year, and like I said I was having problems at home and I was barely at school once a week.
