I hate it when I call someone and they answer the phone I very pleasantly always say "hi how are you" ? and sometimes get the short response
... "Good." WTF ? Some people are so rude they dont even have the courtesy to say .. "Good thanks .. How are you." I find myself awkwardly saying .. Thats good ....What ignorant pigs! I find this rude and annoying every time . Is that normal?

    I just came off the phone mere moments ago and thought, "Why do we always ask each other "How are you", when the answer is ALWAYS the same?"
    I mean, even if I wasn't fine, I'd still say it, because I'm a MAN, and I have to be STRONG!

    This has inspired me. From now on I will not ask how somebody is at the start of a phone call, And if asked, I will always answer with a quick, disinterested "Fine."

    I think its rude when its someone you know like when someone calls you at home.
    At work I get so many calls from people I dont know (when Im sitting at the reception desk from time to time) that I dont give a fuck how they are doing, and I find it annoying that they ask me how Im doing - its like get to the fucken point, what do you want - the phone is ringing off the hook. Cos when they ask you "how are you doing, or who am I speaking too" its like none of your fucken business - who would you like to speak to - oh "so and so" thats all I really need to know - you can ask them how they are. It just takes up time asking stupid questions that are not genuine at all - its just the polite protocall - well fuck it, Im tired of it. rant.... sorry.

    I think it depends on how you say 'how are you', sometimes it's just a greeting not a plea to hear your fucking life story.

    "Hi how are you?"

    "Bad, my cat died from diabetes. My fish died trying to take a bullet for me. My internet provider exploded. My steak meowed at me at dinner last night. I cut my finger with a rusty knife by accident last night and I think I'm gonna die. I just farted. Blah blah blah."

    Anyways, not everyone wants to tell their whole life stories and talk. I think it's pretty obvious when someone answers with short answers.
