I have a phobia, NOT a fear. I know its a problem. I know its weird. but I convulse/ freak out/ have an episode/ feel as if I need to defend my life/ feel like my life is in emediant danger when I get my blood work done. heres the kicker: its NOT the blood and its NOT the needle. its the pulse and that blue vein the phlebotomist takes the blood from. it even bothers me to feel my pulse or noticing it is also unpleasant. I've even been given a perscription for when i get my blood taken. heres what i NEED to know. am i the only one? and is there a word for this fear? Is this at all normal? ~~thanx

    I used to be like that too. I cried, hyperventilated, fought...everything, but I had to get it done anyway. After they did it, it wasn't so bad, though, and now, I'm still afraid of needles, but the phobia is definiatly gone.

    everyone hs a phobia. i'm afraid of bugs. including butterflys.

    oh man, i got blood drawn once and the botched it.. i totally passed out, had convulsions (they said) and came around, puking all over the place..
    it was really fucked up and i thought i was dieing. i seriously saw white light, everything was white except for my shadow..

    Nooooooo!!!!!!

    I absolutely hate the feel of my pulse. I even don't really like to feel my heart beating. It just freaks me out a little and I'm not sure why.

      to hello my friend and stryker: oh thank fn god... no offense but im so happy im not alone. its like i dont care that other people have a pulse i just cant stand my own! and the idea alone that blood is squeezing through me in tight little veins and capillaries freaks me out silly. thank you so much for speaking up, i feel less alone, truely thank you.. and stryker: same thing for me i convulse the whole nine (last time i took alot of night time meds and just cryed like a little school girl) no joke. im with you and i get it. the worst part is the fear that my life is in immediant jeopardy.
