Help! i drank moldy tea? google doesn't give me any real awnsers

I drank mold. My friend made a pitcher and left it on the counter. They said I could have some and it was ok to drink. When I did I thought there was soda in it since it has the consistency of it. They said there wasn't. So I opened the lid to see white globs floating in it. I looked this up on Google and cant find anything. Just a bunch of articles saying "Yes you can in fact get mold in your tea". Which does not really help me in this case.

    Mold growing on food will generally make the food taste bad, but it's not really going to hurt you.

    This tea must have been sitting out for a really long time for mold to be growing in it though - that would take weeks.

      So old post but if anyone runs across it like i did while waiting... Wrong. It doesn't take over a week for this. Not from a fountain pop machine anyhow. I had got some tea from Arby's about 4 days ago days ago off the drinking fountain. I got another one yesterday. Well thinking i was drinking the one i had just bought i took a big drink and drank something slimy and then a drank a chunk. I grabbed the lid off of it to find the top layer was moldy and there was chunks in it. I tried to make my self puke because i kept gagging but was unable to. So, i decided I'd be fine. Woke up today and have lost my voice. Wish me luck. Hope i live. LoL.

    Certain molds eat sugar to produce alcohol.....in the wild it happens all the time ....the only reason we would even feel quesy is because we are not used to it...but your stomach acids kill it....mold is yeast....

      WTF dude, don't spread false information. Mold is not yeast... there are many different types of mold, some can be very toxic. If you don't know, don't say anything. Saying shit like "the only reason we would even feel quesy is because we are not used to it...but your stomach acids kill it....mold is yeast...." is completely wrong and for lack of a better word... retarded

    You'll be fine. It's only rough shaped Penicillin. If you get rashes or your health changes in any way, go see a doctor. But this should happen in at least an hour. If not, you're as healthy as a horse.:)

      not all mold is penicillin... Some mold is toxic. Next time you're sick go find some mold and eat it. Tell me how you feel

    erm, you said it was like soda, most likely you were just drinking the fermentation, unless you tasted something very bitter, but i don't have much experience in the way of beverage-mold, i have eaten plenty of mold off bread or cheese, it's nasty but... well, unless you have weak immunes you should be ok.. and if you do have weak immunes, you should be eating more mold to improve them..haha

    also.. what is your question?! no wonder you didn't get any answers..?

    You might as well stick to wine. Very healthy. How can you be sure that it was mould? If it was a fresh batch, wouldn't the girl have seen it and thrown it away? Sounds like someone put these globs in shortly after she left. If you still have the tea, collect a sample of the globs and send them to a testing facility. They should be able to rule out whether it is truly mould or something else.
