Help how do i escape poverty?

I have a minumum wage and do not make enough to support myself. So I rent a room for cheap but not allowed to eat in the house. I been trying to save money but when I literally not allowed to eat here I eat out a lot. The rules are no guests, smoking, drinking, using kitchen and cerfew and lights out is 10pm. I have not been able find a roommate and even if I do I can't get a apartment without credit check and I pay with cash or debit so I have no credit score. I have a job and I think they want to promote me. But I just so miserable here. I dont have a lot of savings left and about ready to just go live at the homeless shelter. I want to leave, what do I do?

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Was just commenting this to someone else. Look into North Dakota oil rigs. They will pay for your flight there, give you a room in a dorm, and pay you good money. Well over 1,000 a week.

Also if you can get your CDLs you can make really good money driving trucks.

Btw if you do go to North Dakota I've heard they give you a drug test the day of your interview but thats the only time you get one. They have dorms and everyone parties every night. The wheather sucks but it would honestly be fun if you dont mind moving from family.

Yeah, they're hiring. The US still produces alot more oil than you'd think.

      +1 on CDL.

I work half hours at the dealership and my business is closed. But I'm still able to make a living with part time bus driving in my city (I went the extra step and got a bus license).

If you're ok with living on the road, it's actually a very nice job. Beautiful scenery, new places to see and driving is fun. Also I assume you live in the States, where truck cabs are generally larger.
Scania trucks are fantastic, but I would not want to live in one for weeks. Biggest problem I have with long distance trucking.
True... dispatchers, police and lazy warehouse workers suck, but hey... small price to pay for the freedom of that wide open road.

Some companies offer local routes too. I get to go home every night after my shift. I just drive around the city and move several trailers

Sell drugs, it's worked for 4 of my family members (all of witch are/were elderly & couldn't work full time anymore). Just don't get caught by the cops & be willing to shoot someone who might try to rob you for them.

I grew up in poverty - and yes you can escape it.

For starters, I joined the military when I was 18 as they provided a financial foundation and a base for my eventual college education. They also provided much needed lessons in life and responsibility.

The Peace Corp can do similar things, and most countries have similar opportunities.

That got me out of the house and a step up.

My next real change was finding a success mentor group that exposed me to a series of success principals (mainly in books). Success principals never change - and all of the ones I've found are thousands of years old, and often contained in some way in various religious writings.

Here is a list of books I recommend that you read (most of these books - or their predecessors are actually available in multiple languages around the world).

Also, these books are generally available through libraries (you just cannot make notes in them).

These books will work for you - even if you cannot join the military.

1st: "The Compound Effect" by Darren Hardy (I'm not sure if this has been translated to other languages - its a fairly recent book).

Then in whatever order you want:

"How to Win Friends & Influence People in the Digital Age" Dale Carnegie & Associates (or the original 1937 How to Win Friends & Influence People if you live outside of North American and England and cannot get the more modern update.

"Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude" by: Napoleon Hill & W. Clement Stone.

    "Psycho-Cybernetics" by: Maxwell Maltz

"The Magic of Thinking Big" by: David J Schwartz

"Emotional Intelligence" by Daniel Goleman (another recent book that may have not been translated).

pm me for more books or for suggestions when you are working through theses. I've got about 100 different books I provide to people as part of my charity mentoring. Definitely PM me if you live in Eastern Wisconsin and I'll work with you directly and give you the books.

Get a second job. Work physical labor. A factory or something. O work in a warehouse producing windows amd its not even hard yet I make more than double my areas min wage. Eat alternatively. I drink alot of soylent to save money. Theres also huel. Pretty cheap and well balanced food. Thanks to a promotion I was able to buy 6 months of food for only 600 bucks. Its worth looking 8nto. Is it as satisfying as crunching down on a sandwich or something? No. But progress means sacrifices and it'll cut your food bill in more than half since you eat out slot wich btw is bad for you

alright I understand. here in France the more physical the work, the less it is paid.
for example, the lowest paid trades are agriculture, masonry, handling.

it's good like this. here in addition to not being well paid, these are jobs where we spend a lot of time on the journey home> work and often without public transport so we have rather high travel costs.

I tell you what I'd do in your place. If I happened to indeed be left without a roof, buy a gun with my last money right away (take some easy loans if I don't have any cash left - be it 30 or 40% interest - I'm not planning on repaying anyway) and assassinate a financier or capitalist politician or at least one of the hellhounds in uniforms upholding their depraved order. If I die - I die as my own hero and end of this cicle of siffering. If I survive, at least I won't have to deal with homelessness. Looks like win-win

'I can't get a apartment without credit check and I pay with cash or debit so I have no credit score.'
How do you get credit score then? Just like the prophecy in Revelation 13:17.. And to think it happens in the USA, which to this day brags about strong Christian traditions. And yet the financiers orchestrating this neo-fascist Orwellian madness descent from these very same white Christian population groups.

Go into the military and learn a marketable skill or go to school. Then when you get out you will be able to get a decent paying job. Or you could just marry a rich person and take the shortcut.

If you dont have a support group, you need to find one. I dont know where you are, but my local library has postings all the time (not so sure about during covid) for local job fairs and workshops to help people get jobs that can financially support themselves or at least give them the proper tools to try to succeed.

P.S. libraries are free to use. (You just have to be a local resident with a card to check out books n stuff)

Yes, my library is in re-opened phase 2. You can go in, read a book, check out a book, but there are no librarians or assistance. It’s all self service, and a max capacity of X amount of people per day.

  • I was stuck until I water locked my car driving through a puddle end of April last year. Gap insurance paid the rest of the car off and no more car insurance. I slept by the entrance to the highway between some trees in a hammock I couldn't hang up and walked the quarter mile to work every day. I paid off some debt and slept at hotels on my day off. I got a Honda element last December for $1,000 dollars. I found a crappy room like yours if you are who I think you are this March. My element broke down, I bought a $1500 car and basically stayed afloat. I was running a papa John's by myself as a manager with a few high schoolers. In the summer I went to being homeless for a month or two since my water pressure was cut to a dribble, they were going into my apartment and creating grief I'm accustomed only mentally deficient people perform. I saved up some money and got a down payment of 3000 for a car that won't break down within a year and an apartment. I almost had the money to get a cat but then papa John's was like "60 hours is way too many hours to run a store by yourself with a few high schoolers" Monday was also my only day off and that was the only day there wasn't some extra manager work (receive a truck, truck order, soda orders, end of week paperwork) so until like October 4th when I got fired I had to work less hours and deal with the same amount of business and high schoolers who enjoyed being difficult. I found another job at dominos and I can get close to same hours by working at other stores. I may still go to UPS or anywhere with 15 an hour but I think there's stuff for me to learn here and I can pay my bills on time. I just paid off my new car's registration, a 50 fine for not turning my last car's license plate in, about to pay to renew my license and see about the Real ID thing. I also paid my state taxes from my taxes earlier this year. So outside of my bills, I have my mechanic's credit card which basically I really pay into when I need some work done, and then I need to get furniture and dental work done. Working on those last two except I found a plan for 45 a month with no wait time. I'm getting a cat as soon as I get my stimulus money and my taxes will go to whatever.

The time before my car broke down I basically paid my car and insurance and could only afford fast food and gas station food. I went to planet fitness to take showers. I cleaned myself up in my car (which is really hard since I have long curly hair). This is when I started studying psychology, philosophy, and really made some big differences.

Things are possible. No one here can tell you how to do it, but I can tell you I've done it and I'm still doing it. You can too. Someone once told me if you want something bad enough you'll find a way to get it. Might sound harsh but if you're still in the same boat with nothing else done then I would say you don't want it enough. If I'm right then hopefully this puts your ass in gear. If I'm wrong then you'd have made some progress I would think.

Look through Craigslist and find other rooms for rent or wherever you found this place. You have a security deposit to rely on? If not don't pay last month's rent. I've spent so much time just asking myself how I could do something, if you really want an improvement you'll have to ask yourself the same thing until you get answers. Can you wait until promotion and raise to find a place? You'd have to ask yourself this, not us.

Another tough one to ask is how you'll get to work when you move. You walk there now right? Is distance from work something you'd have to account for? Could you save up some money for a car? Will the shelter take you? I heard a lot of them are closed and they're getting kicked out of the hotels they were put in

It's tough, I've asked myself a lot of things I felt I couldn't do and had to keep asking until I could answer. I would say it's part of the law of attraction, but fundamentally your subconscious is paying attention to what you need to live and is helping you discover the path. You gotta keep pushing, if you're feeling the desperation more than your last post then you're on the right path despite it feeling like the noose is being tightened. That desperation can augment your resolve, which will help you get what you want.

Maybe something to add a little gas to your fire, look up the hierarchy of needs by Abraham Maslow. You need to find these answers if you want to have a happier life.

Maybe even a different job in general. Last time you said it's a mom and pop place, right? Are their wages really competitive, especially right now? I don't know you but I know the prospect of a management position is tantalizing, but if you're gonna be getting the same pay as a standard McDonald's worker then is sacrificing pay you could be getting elsewhere worth working at this place? Think carefully about how you respond to this.

Well if your family arent supplying any help (physical or emotional). Cut them out of your life and focus on yourself for now.

Keep the savings in a bank and live at a homeless shelter. Ideally you it's better to be homeless than penniless (climate depending). See if you cant get another job to work at and if there is anyone looking for a roommate to live at another crappy apartment.

Stay away from drugs. Every single one. Cigarettes and alcohol included, they are money wasters and will make it take longer to get out of a poverty hole.

In your free time look at any career paths that you can do. Look at the construction trades and determine if you could do it. Go to any job fair that's being held and be god damn determined not to get out until your bag is full of resumes. Aquire basic formal attire for interviews.

Keep doing the above until you land a job with a higher pay. After then you are on the second rung of the ladder. You might not reach the top, but you should be able to provide a better foundation for your kids (if you have or plan on having kids) for them to try to reach the top.

This will be a long fight but it's entirely possible for you to make it out from the gutter. You just have to think smart about it rather than wallowing in maybes and ifs.

I don't know where you live... but that is definitely what you find in my area. Most physical labor jobs are low paying. The only high paying ones requires experience and skills - and often times they are tied to construction, which is currently shut down due to winter (i.e.; there are currently extremely few high paying labor jobs in my area being advertised, if any).

Its called walking away from hindrances. I'm on my ways side here. You made the choice if what's more important your family or your life. I chose my life. Most bad situations are self created. You put yourself here by caring for someone whod never do the same for you. An entirely human choice but still the wrong one.

That is a fantasy I have, which I have thought about making real and maybe I will in the future. But truthfully, death scares me and I don’t know what I’d do if I was in that situation and suddenly realised that I just wanted it to stop and for him to let me go.

That and the fact that I’m secretly a guy and I don’t know how the dude would react when my whopping 10 inch cock flopped out on the bed.

Gotta side with you on this one. People always have excuses for the matter but at the end of they day they have all their limbs and a mind that doesn't confine them to childhood. Meaning they are perfectly capable of getting a real job. Not to mention they usually made a choice that put them there instead of working towards themselves. Its quite amusing.
