My friend has a madonna -whore philosophy of women. He has slept with women for sex, but he would never be in a relationship with them. Because of this he is 21 and has just gotten into his first real relationship.

His new girlfriend is a virgin, BUT she is unattractive and socially backward. The only attractive thing about her is her smile, and she is slim. He is a funny guy and a flirt, and a lot of women fall for him.

He is determined to find a virgin, date her for a few years and marry her. He and his best friend have a pact. But I can't see him with this women, and I don't think he would be happy in the long run.

What do you think happens when men hold onto this virgin double-standard:

He marrys her and they live happily ever after. 3
He finally has sex with her then dumps her because he doesn't like her 9
He waits, marrys her, then divorce because of incompatibility. 7
They have a relationship based on interests (not sex) and are happy. 3

    Eh I dont know, I think I am gonna have to disagree with the other comments somewhat in saying that I can understand very much where he is coming from in wanting a virgin, I dont really want a virgin, but if it came down to between a virgin OR a girl I knew behaved like a whore in her past, but suddenly decided to stop, I would still take the virgin. Of course its almost downright impossible to find a virgin who is good looking this day and age and is above 20 yrs old, but there it is.

    It also bears mentioning that your friend is a hypocrite for sleeping with the whores but not considering himself as one.

    I guess you have to know him to see the full picture. Think of it this way: usually virgins in our society are socially backwards, unattractive and/or immature, and very possibly ultra religious. If you yourself are inexperienced in life or fit in the above categories, then a virgin is the girl for you. But he does not fit into any of these categories.

    They say opposites attract, but when you really have nothing to talk about, no common ground and you don't find each other attactive, how can you have a relationship? Sexual or platonic?

    personally i think you're giving him too much credit in his ability to attract a spouse.

    the virgin bride might decline his offer because... she herself may want a virgin husband, and not a man with a past.
