I've known him most of my life. He was always trying to be my boyfriend. He told me he loved me more than anyone he would ever know. He said if I wanted to be in a relationship to come to him and even if he was with someone else, he would be with me.

Fast forward 10 years. We are in our 20's and I miss him. I miss what we had. He has had the same girlfriend for 5 years. I would love to spend time with him before he marries her, and I think he will. I think I still have feelings for him.

        Unfortunately, that's normal behaviour-- not just of guys, but women too. People aren't exactly taught the difference between lust and love. We're pretty much just told that if you want someone, these are the words you should be using, and you certainly can't blame people for the damages a screwed up and shortsighted culture does.

    i think you should try it. yes i said it i know isuck but here's my point. if this hangs in the air for you it might for him. if it does it could fuck up his marriage and his life. if it's out there and you deal better for both. if there is nothing left but memories it will end the fanatasies and if there's something to it it might make all happy. sure she would be hurt and pissed but she wouldnt find herself in a nowhere marriage

    I'm gonna take a wild guess here and say you guys were adolescents/teens when this was happening. If so, he probably didn't personally mean what he was saying. It feels good to emotionall and affectionately dump on someone when you're going through the hormonal throes of young-adult life, and taking it too seriously when you're on the recieving end and not realising that people can say/do these things for their own benefit can do a lot of harm.

    I can't advise you to break up a relationship. It's better to forget him. Judging from my experiences, the best way to get over someone is to either spend too much time with that person or no time at all.
