He has female friends. should i be "concerned"?

I'm a female, and in the past whenever I've had male friends, they have either been gay or had feelings for me (feelings weren't mutual). I am currently talking to a guy, and he has told me that he has female friends (he claims just friends, no benefits) and he catches up with them for coffee/dinner. Is this normal? Or should I be concerned?

You shouldn't be concerned. He is well connected and social. If you can't handle him being around 50% of the people in the world by default, then you have issues.

I can't stand the fact it's often seen as weird for opposite sexes to be just friends and that it'll lead to sex, does it also mean if someone's bi then then you'd be concerned with them having any friends at all? It's 2014 for God's sake yes a guy and a girl can just be friends.

I may be sounding rude but I'm still friends with a girl from college, just friends, and my ex tried to force me to stop seeing her despite us being close friends for years so the attitude of being concerned over a guy and woman being friends drives me nuts

Unsurprisingly we broke up soon after that, which annoyingly wasn't seen as me not allowing someone to control my social life it was seen as I had feelings for my friend.

Insecurity I can deal with insecurity that leads to paranoid actions I cant

  • I didn't know whether "its normal" means it's normal you are insecure or that its normal he has female friends, but I will say it's normal he has female friends and not normal that you are insecure.

Half my friends are girls and I have never done anything sexual with the majority of them. Most of them I was never even interested in. I'm still friends with my ex's as well.

Any girl that showed the slightest sign of insecurity or jealousy over something like this I would lose interest in immediately. I wouldn't tolerate any bullshit.

Why is "concerned" in quotes? Are you suggesting it's a a euphemism for killing him? Are you actually a murderer?

So, now we humans can't be friends with the opposite sex without there being something going on (fantastic song, by the way)?! An eyebrow being raised? http://vimeo.com/m/31263422

Make a cage for him in your basement if you're worried.

Also, it sounds like the two of you aren't even dating. That's what I'm understanding from, "I'm currently talking to a guy."

I'm sure he's just friends with the girl.
