He constantly clears his throat

My roommate always clears his throat every 10-20 seconds of every minute for a good two hours in the morning and at night. And I can hear it through my paper-thin wall since I'm right next to his room.Is that normal???

I had a work mate who used to clear his throat all the time, it was sort of like a tic, a nervous thing, in fact it was a mild form of tourettes. It's certainly not normal.

I do that and my sister says that I'm abnormal and mocks me. I can't help it. It is like I have to do it

Wear earplugs if it bothers you.

Start making the sound back, maybe he will get the hint and go get it checked out.

Why cant you just ask him what's wrong?

Just say "Why are you coughing so much? I can hear it when I wake and when I'm trying to sleep."

Maybe he's allegic to something, you don't know.

I'm sure he's just as bothered by it as you are, so just ask him if it's something you can help him with.

Other people are just like you are you know.

Would you appreciate someone showing concern?

My roommate does the same thing, but it's all good, put in your iPod at night, put on some lullabic songs, sleeeeep. ;)

No big deal I guess, its all about being independent.

Well, you should probably talk to him about it. It could be a normal and annoying habit, or something could be wrong. Best to check it out soon.
